United Rehabilitation Services unveils its Black History Month events
DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – The United Rehabilitation Services (URS) has announced its speakers lineup for its Black History Month events.
Black History Month explained: Its origins, celebrations and myths
'These remarkable leaders exemplify the spirit of advocacy, resilience, and community service that resonates deeply with our mission,' said Dennis Grant, URS CEO, in a release.
The featured speakers are:
Dr. Derrick L. Foward, NAACP Dayton Branch President (Feb. 5 – 12:30 p.m.)
Dayton Mayor Jeffrey J. Mims, Jr. (Feb. 11 – 9:30 a.m.)
Dion Green, Founder of the FUDGE Foundation (Feb. 20 – 12:30 p.m.)
Willis Blackshear, State Senator (Feb. 21 – 10 a.m.)
Mary McDonald, Montgomery County Commissioner (Feb. 24 – 10 a.m.)
Kevin Lydy, the National Afro-American Museum (Feb. 26 – 10 a.m.)
Events include interactive reading sessions with children in URS' Youth Services program, as well as presentations on leadership, resilience, advocacy, African American history and culture for adult participants.
