The PE fire sale is on, but dangers lurk among the bargains
In the world of institutional investment, the Yale University Endowment, with its $US41.4 billion ($65 billion) in assets, stands out. Its former chief investment officer, David Swensen, is a bona fide legend of asset allocation, pioneering what has now become known as the endowment model.
That model has a simple logic – by allocating capital to a range of hard-to-access private assets, investors will ultimately be rewarded. All it takes is time and patience to return a premium to the public markets.
