Dante Polvara takes Aberdeen teammates to Charleston Battery homecoming
Aberdeen midfielder Dante Polvara was the guest of honour at his former side Charleston Battery on Saturday. The 24-year-old was acknowledged for his part in helping the Dons win the Scottish Cup with a warm reception from the Charleston support before their USL Cup match against Greenville Triumph kicked off. Polvara also had some of his Dons teammates in South Carolina watching on as Jack Milne, Gavin Molloy and Hibernian-bound Jamie McGrath also attended the game. The American spent time on loan at Charleston Battery in 2023, making 21 appearances and scoring one goal. The Dons players will return for pre-season training towards the end of the month.

One Knoxville SC sets league attendance record at home opener
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — One Knoxville SC's homecoming at the all-new Covenant Health Park was a success both and off the field. The team registered a shootout win and broke a league attendance record in the process. After spending the first six weeks of the season on the road, Knoxville hosted their first match at the downtown multiuse stadium on Saturday in front of a sold-out crowd of 6,378. It marked the highest attended match ever hosted by a USL League One team, surpassing the previous high of 6,000 held by Richmond Kickers. Fans cheer on One Knox at first home opener in Covenant Health Park The match kicked off Knoxville's 2025 campaign in the USL Cup, an in-season World Cup-style tournament. After the inaugural 2024 edition exclusively featured from the third-division USL League One, this year's competition added all 24 teams from the second-division USL Championship. Knoxville welcomed Division II side FC Tulsa and found themselves down early after conceding a second-minute goal. The home team took the lead in the 72nd minute on a penalty by Kempes Tekiela but a last-gasp FC Tulsa goal sent the match to penalty kicks. One Knox won the shootout to secure two points in the USL Cup group standings. Their lone loss came after extra time in the third round of the US Open Cup. Cambridge's Jack Panayotou loaned by Revolution to USL's Hartford Athletic
Advertisement Panayotou made 12 appearances across a pair of loan stints with Rhode Island FC last summer, including the second half of the first-year team's Hartford Athletic is 1-4-0 to begin its season in the USL Championship, 11th in the 12-team Eastern Conference. It hosts the Portland Hearts of Pine, playing their first season in the lower-level USL League One, on Saturday in the opening match of the annual USL Cup. The Revolution (3-4-1) sit 11th in the MLS Eastern Conference, but have won three of their last four. One Knoxville SC enters home opener as league's last unbeaten team
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — One Knoxville SC is headed home for their first-ever match at Covenant Health Park following a six-week road trip to kick off the 2025 season. The team is off to its best start to a season since moving up to the professional ranks in 2023. It's been an impressive start to life under first-year head coach Ian Fuller, who will enter Saturday's home opener as the reigning USL League One Coach of the Week. After drawing their opening match against Spokane Velocity FC, Knoxville has strung together three straight league wins without conceding a single goal. 'To have that professional path where a young girl is able to strive' One Knoxville SC introduces pre-professional women's team The four-match unbeaten run makes them the only team that has yet to lose a USL League One match. However, Knoxville won't be putting their league unbeaten streak on the line when they host FC Tulsa at Covenant Health Park on April 26. The match will kick of Knoxville's 2025 campaign in the USL Cup, a in-season World Cup-style tournament. After the inaugural 2024 edition only featured teams from the third-division USL League One, this year's tournament will also feature all 24 USL Championship teams. The 38-team field is divided into six groups based on geographic proximity. How Covenant Health Park's field will accommodate baseball and soccer Knoxville will take on two USL Championship sides during USL Cup group play: FC Tulsa and Indy Eleven. A win against either would be the first in One Knoxville history against a team from a higher division. Saturday's match will kick off at 7 p.m. Knoxville is aiming to break a USL League One record for the most-attended home opener, a mark of 6,000 currently held by Richmond Kickers.
