Tennessee duo Mashack, Zeigler earn national defensive honors
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Tennessee men's basketball standouts Jahmai Mashack and Zakai Zeigler have been named to the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year Watch List.
The senior guards are two of 15 players on the list. Tennessee was the only university with a pair of players in the 15.

Mashack currently leads the country in Defensive Box Score Plus/Minus at 8.4. The senior averages two steals per game.
Zeigler is coming off a season where he won SEC Defensive Player of the Year and is on the watch list for the third straight season. The guard has racked up 2.1 steals per game and is Tennessee's all-time steals leader with 228.
Nine players in the Super Bowl have Tennessee ties
Ten Naismith Defensive Player of the Year semifinalists will be revealed near the end of the regular season, with four finalists then announced during the NCAA Tournament.
The duo will look to lead the Vols past No. 15 Mizzou on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
