Uber and iFood Announce Strategic Partnership in Brazil

The partnership will bring greater convenience to users of two of Brazil's most-loved apps, powering a new ride-hailing tab in iFood and a delivery tab in Uber SAN FRANCISCO & SíO PAULO, May 14, 2025--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Uber Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: UBER) and iFood, one of the world's leading food delivery players, announced today a strategic partnership to offer more convenience for millions of consumers in Brazil. The partnership will allow iFood users to book Uber rides directly from the iFood app, while Uber users will gain access to iFood's food, grocery, pharmacy, and convenience delivery services within the Uber app. This agreement aims to simplify daily life for Brazilians by offering transportation and delivery services through two of the country's most popular apps. Customers can now plan their commute and order meals or groceries without switching between apps, saving time and enhancing their overall experience. "We are thrilled to partner with iFood in Brazil," said Dara Khosrowshahi, CEO of Uber. "Today, only around half of iFood and Uber customers in Brazil use both platforms. So this partnership represents a big milestone in our mission to help people go anywhere and get anything at the tap of a button." "iFood has transformed the way people order food and everyday items in Brazil, just as Uber has revolutionized the way Brazilians move around," said Diego Barreto, CEO of iFood. "Now, this integration represents a major step forward, with both companies innovating to offer a new way to access everyday services. We believe this partnership will drive more orders for restaurants, grocery stores, pharmacies, and convenience retailers; generate more income for couriers and drivers; and make consumers' everyday lives even easier." How will it work? Brazilian consumers can continue to order their services using their preferred app. If using Uber, the Delivery tab will transition to iFood. If using iFood, a new Mobility tab will allow consumers to easily book their rides through Uber. For now, there are no changes to Uber One or 'Clube iFood', the membership programs offered by Uber and iFood, respectively, although the two companies have agreed to explore joint membership initiatives in the near future. The integration of these services will begin rolling out in select cities in Brazil during the second half of 2025, with a nationwide expansion planned shortly after. No changes are planned to Uber's white-label delivery offerings for businesses (Uber Direct) or parcel delivery (Uber Flash), which will continue to be booked via the Uber app and delivered by Uber drivers and couriers. In iFood's case, there will also be no changes to any logistics services provided to partners, nor to the 'Sob Demanda' service, which offers delivery for those operating outside the app. About Uber Uber's mission is to create opportunity through movement. We started in 2010 to solve a simple problem: how do you get access to a ride at the touch of a button? More than 61 billion trips later, we're building products to get people closer to where they want to be. By changing how people, food, and things move through cities, Uber is a platform that opens up new possibilities. About iFood iFood is a Brazilian technology company and a leading player in online delivery in Latin America. HungerRush introduces AI Reply for instant feedback responses

Restaurant technology solutions provider HungerRush has announced the integration of AI Reply into its feedback tool for instant responses. The feature utilises AI to instantly generate professional responses to customer feedback, enabling restaurant operators to engage swiftly and consistently. HungerRush value-add services products head Matt Volpe stated: "In today's fast-paced digital world, guests expect timely, personalised engagement. With AI Reply and Match My Brand, we're giving restaurant operators a seamless way to interact with guests — without adding to their already full plates. "This is a continuation of our commitment to bringing AI solutions to HungerRush customers, making operations more efficient and enhancing the guest experience." The function guarantees that every message reflects the restaurant's personality, tone and customer service philosophy, and when combined with the Match My Brand capability, is in harmony with the restaurant's unique voice. It can acknowledge both positive reviews and customer concerns. HungerRush chief product officer Eran Hollander added: 'The POS system is the central nervous system of restaurant operations — powering everything from ordering to marketing, customer engagement, scheduling, inventory and more. 'At HungerRush, we are deeply committed to understanding the unique strengths and challenges of our customers and providing them with solutions that truly support their success. AI isn't just the future; it's the present, and we're bringing it to restaurants in ways that enhance their workflows, amplify their expertise and improve the guest experience to help them thrive in an industry that's evolving faster than ever.' HungerRush had previously integrated Uber Direct into its delivery services, giving restaurants greater flexibility and cost savings. This integration allows restaurants to manage deliveries through multiple driver options directly within their point of sale system. Darden and Uber launch on-demand delivery pilot at Cheddar's

US-based Darden Restaurants, in collaboration with Uber Technologies, has initiated an on-demand delivery pilot at Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen. The trial is currently operational in ten restaurants, offering customers the convenience of ordering directly from Cheddar's website and app, while Uber Direct manages delivery logistics through its national network. Cheddar's then intends to expand the service across its brand network. Darden chief information officer Chris Chang stated: "We have developed a strong partnership with the Uber Direct team. We learned a lot from the initial pilot at Olive Garden, and that, combined with the success of the full rollout, gave us confidence to quickly move to piloting delivery at Cheddar's." Uber Eats head of Americas and delivery vice-president Sarfraz Maredia added: "The needs of restaurants are evolving more quickly than ever, and we're focused on providing world-class solutions to meet those needs. "We've heard excellent feedback from Olive Garden operators on the benefits and ease of integrating Uber Direct into their operations, and are confident our teams can deliver the same benefits for Cheddar's operators, their team members and guests." Darden reported a 6.2% increase in total sales to $3.2bn for the fiscal third quarter (Q3) ended 23 February 2025, driven by a 0.7% rise in same-restaurant sales and contributions from acquiring 103 Chuy's locations and 40 net new restaurants. Net income rose to $323.4m from $312.9m a year previously. Darden's board of directors declared a quarterly cash dividend of $1.40 per share, payable on 1 May 2025. The company's operating costs and expenses for the fiscal third quarter stood at $2,73bn, an increase from $2,58bn in the same period last year. Darden has also revised its fiscal 2025 financial outlook, factoring in Chuy's operating results while excluding $47m in pre-tax transaction and integration costs from the acquisition. Key estimates include total sales of $12.1bn, same-restaurant sales growth of 1.5%, and between 50 and 55 new restaurant openings. Capital expenditures are projected at $650m, with overall inflation expected to be 2.5%. Co-op and Uber Eats extend quick commerce partnership

British co-operative Co-op and Uber Eats have renewed their partnership for an additional three years up to 2027, continuing a collaboration which began in 2022. Their alliance has expanded the availability of Uber Eats to more than 1,300 Co-op stores, solidifying the retailer's position as one of the leading quick commerce grocery supermarket through its online platform and key partnerships. As part of the ongoing relationship, the Co-op will further its engagement with Uber Direct, Uber's last-mile delivery solution. Uber Direct has already been integrated into Co-op's online shop to facilitate smooth deliveries. The service will also be available for orders made through Co-op's newly introduced app, Peckish, which is aimed at bolstering independent local grocery retailers throughout the UK. Launched in February 2025, Peckish empowers small, family-run, independent grocers to provide online shopping and delivery options. The extended partnership ensures that Co-op will maintain member price discounts for Uber Eats customers. Uber Eats was the inaugural delivery service to incorporate Co-op member price discounts, allowing Co-op's more than 6 million members to enjoy savings on nearly 200 products when purchasing groceries and daily necessities via the Uber app. Co-op quick commerce director Chris Conway stated: 'Growing our quick commerce channel is a core part of our strategic approach, and I am delighted to extend and deepen our successful partnership with Uber Eats. 'Innovation is fundamental to our approach, whether extending reach and choice, creating value through member price savings or delivering the Peckish app to give independent grocery retailers a voice online. 'We see consumer appetite for quick, easy and convenient grocery delivery continuing to grow, and the agreement with Uber Eats marks the start of a new chapter where we will work together to meet the evolving needs of shoppers and to grow Co-op's leading q-comm [commerce focusing specifically on quick delivery) channel.' In January 2025, Co-op announced plans to launch 75 new stores across the UK in 2025.
