Recently a Reddit user named UhhBirb shared his experience through a post on the official NintendoSwitch subreddit. This user claimed that using a third-party charger can increase the power-consumption by 25% while docked into playing a game (not charging). He then went on to compare the power going into the device with two separate chargers - the original one and a third-party charger. He then concluded that the increased power is lost as heat. He also explained that this power increase might not be harmful for Switch 2 as the dock regulates the voltage, but can damage the dock itself. He also found out that third-party chargers generally charge with low voltage output. At the end, he advised everyone to compare the voltage and wattage output of a third-party charger, because there are many available options out there.
