Man wanted for the shooting of a 13-year-old during a fight in Southwest Philadelphia arrested, U.S. Marshals say
A man wanted for the shooting of a 13-year-old during a fight with another child last week in Southwest Philadelphia has been arrested, the U.S. Marshals Service Eastern Pennsylvania said on social media Wednesday afternoon. Marshals said 43-year-old Keith Holmes was arrested in a unit on the block of North 63rd Street in the Overbrook section of West Philly after investigators determined he was hiding with a family member. Holmes was wanted on charges of aggravated assault, violations of the Uniform Firearms Act and other related charges in connection with a shooting on April 10 on the 2000 block of South 57th Street in Kingsessing. Last week, Philadelphia Police Department Inspector Michael Gormley said Holmes, a family member of the child the 13-year-old was fighting, fled the scene after the incident. Marshals said the 13-year-old was shot multiple times after a dispute over concrete. The teen was taken to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and was listed in stable condition.

11 arrested for illegal firearm trafficking in Pennsylvania sting operation: AG Sunday
HARRISBURG, Pa. (WTAJ) — Eleven people were arrested by a gun violence task force for illegal 'straw purchase' and firearms trafficking, Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday announced. Stanford A. Russell Jr., 33, was arrested at his home in Pittsburgh after running from a vehicle stop. Sunday noted that police found a revolver, firearm accessories and drugs during the arrest. Russell was placed in prison without bail as he's on parole for prior felony convictions. Ten others were recently charged with various offenses, including felony violations of the Uniform Firearms Act and conspiracy. The investigation is ongoing into connections between the individuals. Russell, however, is believed to have operated separately, Sunday wrote. In addition to Russell, the following are also charged: Daniel Crow, of Pittsburgh Taylor Murphy, Pittsburgh Juliona Upsher, Trafford Vance Arrington, Pittsburgh Aiyanna Crosby, Pittsburgh Danielle Pinkston, Pittsburgh Tejuan Davis, McKeesport Daemon Davis, McKeesport Jaidon Berry, Verona Sarah Woodruff, Verona 'Straw purchases and other illegal transfers of firearms are direct safety threats to our communities, and this task force is devoted to tracking offenders and the firearms which so often end up at violent crime scenes,' Sunday said. 'I commend the agencies involved in this case who worked together to stop an illegal flow of firearms.'The investigations were led by the Office of Attorney General's Allegheny County Gun Violence Task Force. Assisting were the FBI (Pittsburgh Field Division), Pennsylvania State Parole, Allegheny County Police Department, Swissvale Police Department, and Pittsburgh Police Department. Man charged after woman's body found inside trash can in Mill Creek: police

PHILADELPHIA - A man is facing several charges after police say he is a suspect in the death of a woman whose body was found in a trash can. Police have released new details since the body was discovered last month. What we know Officers responded to reports of a body inside a garbage can on the 700 block of North 47th Street around 9:42 a.m. on January 30. They arrived to find the body of a person, who was pronounced dead at the scene by medics. Police later identified the victim as 54-year-old Deborah Leatherberry. They say the cause of death was determined to be a gunshot wound to her temple. Following an investigation, police identified the suspect as 61-year-old Ricardo Ponds. He was arrested without incident by SEPTA officers at 15th and Market and will be charged with Murder, Violations of the Uniform Firearms Act (VUFA), and related offenses.
