Union Minister Kishan accuses Revanth of insulting PM Modi, armed forces

HYDERABAD: Union Coal & Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy on Friday slammed Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for making 'insulting' remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Operation Sindoor, alleging that those comments were demoralising to the Indian armed forces. Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, Kishan Reddy accused the Congress of politicising national security. Kishan, who is also the president of Telangana unit of BJP, said the Congress has turned its Jai Hind Yatra into a 'political' programme and this is not new for that party to undermine the armed forces with such events. 'This is not the first time the Congress has insulted the Indian Army. They questioned the surgical strikes carried out in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Now, they are again making baseless statements that hurt the morale and self-confidence of our forces,' he said. Kishan also questioned the credibility of Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi. 'First, Rahul Gandhi should explain who handed over PoK to Pakistan. Congress is responsible for that and for the loss of countless lives over the years,' the Union minister said. Referring to doubts raised by Rahul on Operation Sindoor, Kishan said, 'It is shameful that Rahul is asking how many Rafale jets were lost instead of asking how many terrorists were killed. This shows his immaturity. He should recall the countless terror attacks and bomb blasts that occurred during the Congress regime.' 'Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, the Indian armed forces are giving fitting responses to terrorists and Pakistan,' he added.

CM Revanth slams BJP over ceasefire, says India bowed to US pressure unlike during Indira Gandhi's time

HYDERABAD: With US President Donald Trump taking to social media to announce the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Wednesday asserted that citizens of the country are under the impression that the BJP-led Union government stopped its attack against the neighbouring country owing to pressure exerted by the US. He paid floral tributes to former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi on the occasion of his death anniversary near the State Secretariat on Wednesday. He also lauded the former statesman's contributions, and listed that he introduced a slew of economic reforms and was instrumental in giving people the right to vote from the age of 18. Referring to former prime minister Indira Gandhi's approach towards Pakistan, the chief minister said the former had never succumbed to pressure from the US. 'Indira Gandhi split Pakistan into two and taught it a lesson in the process. Such an approach is missing now,' he added. 'BJP trying to hide incompetence' Criticising BJP's Tiranga rally, he said, 'If India were victorious in its fight towards eradicating terrorism, the whole world would have praised you (the Union government) in a grand manner. However, you chose to parade your leadership, including Union ministers, on the streets and take pride in the success of Operation Sindoor.' Referring to Union Coal & Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy's remarks claiming that Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi was 'working against national interests', Revanth said the BJP government at the Centre was trying to cover up its incompetence by making such statements. 'BJP state president Kishan Reddy has lost his conscience and is thus giving such statements against Rahul Gandhi,' he added. The Telangana government has been at the forefront of honouring martyrs and was the first state in the country to organise a march in solidarity with the soldiers with full participation of the official machinery, he said. 'Despite political differences, the state and national units of Congress have supported the Union government on national security issues, and we will not politicise them,' the chief minister asserted.

No statutory backing for Telangana govt's BC census: Union Minister Kishan Reddy

HYDERABAD: Union Coal & Mines Minister and BJP state president G Kishan Reddy on Sunday said that the Backward Classes (BC) caste survey conducted by the Telangana government lacks statutory backing. He asserted that a legally valid caste census can only be undertaken through the national census mechanism. He was addressing the BJP state office-bearers at a meeting held at the party office in Hyderabad. The meeting discussed the Centre's decision to initiate a caste census through constitutional means. Sources said Kishan briefed the attendees on how the Union government plans to conduct the caste census and the legal procedures involved. He reportedly told the leaders that the last official caste census was conducted during British rule and that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government intends to carry out a genuine and comprehensive caste census with full legal backing. He instructed party MPs, MLAs, MLCs and district presidents to hold community-level meetings to explain the distinction between the Telangana government's BC survey and the proposed national caste census. Sources also indicated that the Centre is likely to amend the Census Act in the coming days to facilitate the caste census. Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Rajya Sabha member R Krishnaiah hailed Modi's decision as historic and demanded that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy release the findings of the state's BC survey. He alleged that the state government carried out the survey only under pressure from BC associations and questioned its credibility.

Telangana's model wrong, Centre need not follow it: Kishan Reddy on caste census

HYDERABAD: Union Coal & Mines Minister and BJP state president G Kishan Reddy on Thursday praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for taking the historic decision to include caste in the upcoming national census. He hailed the move as a 'historic step' towards positive change in the country. The Union minister, however, criticised the opposition, particularly the Congress, for playing politics with Narendra Modi's decision. He accused the Congress of hatching a conspiracy regarding BC reservations. He alleged that the Congress had committed a grave mistake by including Muslims under the BCs, labelling it a 'deliberate misstep.' He criticised the Congress-led Telangana government, saying it was unfair as injustice was meted out to BCs with the inclusion of Muslims under the BC category. He lashed out at Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for his suggestion that India should follow the Telangana model in conducting a caste census, saying that it was a wrong model to replicate and that the Centre would not need such a model. Kishan slammed the Congress for consistently making flawed decisions, including opposing presidential candidates from Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. He credited the Modi government with addressing long-pending issues such as the sub-categorisation of SCs and said it was only after the Centre clarified its stance to the Supreme Court that the apex court delivered the judgment on sub-categorisation.
