UE families react to administrator's controversial Instagram post

ENDICOTT, NY (WIVT/WBGH) – Some Union Endicott families are demanding change to the school district's administration after an employee posted a vulgar message on social media. About two weeks ago, the assistant superintendent of UE, Jenn Kazmark shared a post to her private Instagram, that was originally made by famous actress Chrissy Teigan. The post itself speaks out against President Trump and includes several caused public outcry and backlash against the school district. Kazmark has since released an apology statement. In the statement she says, it was never her intention for the post to be shared publicly, and she's sad that it's divided the UE community. Her boss, Superintendent Nicole Wolfe, is standing by her. 'This has truly been a teachable moment, and a reminder for everyone, that anything that you put out on social media is never truly private,' says Wolfe. UE held its school board meeting on Monday and opened it up to public comment. Before the meeting, some Endicott residents spoke out against the district, demanding change. Endicott native, Mark Ponzi, says his granddaughter attends UE, and since the post began circulating online, she's received threats about what will happen to her if she or her family votes for Trump. 'As a result of that, my granddaughter has quit gymnastics, won't go out for lacrosse, won't anything. Will not go to school or leave the house without her mother or without myself. So, to be honest with you, I'm here because I want somebody's job,' says Kazmark. Some people are demanding Kazmark's resignation, while others say it wasn't a violation since she posted it to her private page. In her apology, Kazmark says once she realized other people had seen the post, she immediately removed it. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Emily Mackay returns to BU as luncheon headliner

(WIVT/WBGH) – Olympic runner Emily Mackay is preparing for a hero's welcome as she returns to her alma mater next week. The 2024 Paris Olympian will be the keynote speaker at Binghamton University's annual Celebrating Women's Athletics luncheon. Mackay, a graduate of Union Endicott and Binghamton University, plans to share her journey running at BU and her professional journey. She's currently planning to run the 3k in the United States Indoor Track and Field Championships in Staten Island this weekend. Having achieved her earlier goal of wanting to compete in the Olympics, Mackay now has her sights set on the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028. 'My big goal is to not only qualify for L.A., but I really want to try to medal there. If I can stay consistent and healthy for these next 4 years and continue to progress the way I have, at least the last couple years, I think I have a really solid shot,' said Mackay. Mackay says she hopes to inspire young athletes during her speech on Monday, much as she was inspired when she attended the 2019 luncheon as a BU student when the legendary runner Joan Benoit was the headliner. Mackay says her hometown tour will continue next Tuesday with visits planned to some U-E schools. Watch the full interview below. Emily Mackay returns to BU as luncheon headliner WATCH: Gov.
