Final journey begins for 2 FRU men killed in tragic Teluk Intan crash
TELUK INTAN: The bodies of two Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) personnel who were killed in the crash along Jalan Chikus–Sungai Lampam here were taken from Teluk Intan Hospital.
The remains of Constable Akmal Wafi Annuar, 28, and Corporal Mohamad Hilmi Mohd Azlan, 38, were transported in separate hearses, departing from the hospital's Forensics Department at 10pm.
It is understood that the bodies will first be taken to the Ar-Rahman Surau at the Hilir Perak District Police headquarters for funeral prayers, before being brought to the Unit 5 FRU base in Sungai Senam.
Earlier, media reported that all nine FRU personnel who died in the crash involving a gravel-laden lorry along Jalan Chikus-Sungai Lampam this morning had been identified.
Perak police chief Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin was reported as saying the crash lso left nine other FRU personnel injured, who are currently receiving treatment at Teluk Intan Hospital.
He said all the victims were from Unit 5 FRU based in Sungai Senam, Ipoh.
The FRU truck carrying 18 personnel was on its way back to Ipoh after completing their assignment for the Chitrapournami celebration in Hilir Perak.
