Event planned to discuss revocation of student visas
The Unitarian Universalist Church of Stillwater is hosting an event Friday to bring more attention to the White House's efforts to revoke international student visas.
'Addressing the Revocation of Local International Students' Visas and What to Do About It' will run from 5-6:30 p.m. Friday at 320 S Stallard.
There will be a potluck dinner, funds will be raised in support of international students facing deportation, guests will learn about international students' rights and be able to join in songs of solidarity. The public is welcome to attend.
'Unitarian Universalist congregations affirm and promote the inherent worth and dignity of every person,' a news release reads. 'We hope to see you there.'
Earlier this month, the government began revoking visas from international students that included public universities in Oklahoma. At the time, it was reported eight students at Oklahoma State University had visas revoked. The O'Colly, OSU's student newspaper, reported last week that the number had grown to 13.
According to reports, the University of Oklahoma had the visas of seven international students revoked, while University of Central Oklahoma saw as many as four visas revoked.
