NASCAR Xfinity Driver Says Miscommunication Caused Pit Row Accident

With 30 laps remaining in the United Rentals 300 at Daytona International Speedway Saturday evening, a group of Chevrolet was coming to pit when Kris Wright missed a braking cue and barrelled into the pit row traffic ahead of him, with Josh Bilicki taking the brunt of the damage. Over the radio, Wright said that he lost his brakes going into the accident. Once he was out of the car and being interviewed by The CW, he said that the lack of braking was caused by a miscommunication between his spotter and him. "Super bad miscommunication with the spotter," Wright said. When asked to explain further how this was related to the late braking, Write explained that there was a braking issue on the pit stop before that led to the miscommunication on the current pitstop that led to him plowing into Bilicki. "We had a breaking issue on pit row the stop before, and we were planning on getting the brakes a little bit sooner getting out of turn four, coming to turn four," Wright explained. "It was unfortunate the way it happened." Members of the CW Booth for the Xfinity broadcast were quick to hold Wright accountable, saying that the spotter does not press the brakes or turn the wheel; the driver does.
