UE IN-MaC Design and Innovation Training Studio ready to begin STEM programs

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) — A hub for science, technology, engineering and math education opens at the University of Evansville, and free-of-charge programs to shape the mind of tomorrow are starting right around the corner. The Driving Possibilities, UE and IN-MaC Design and Innovation Training Studio is one of about 100 facilities of its kind in Indiana to educate STEM technologies, like coding and 3-D printing. It's geared to learners of all ages, from those in pre-k to 12th grade, college students, teachers and families of students. Some free events are scheduled. The Science of Reading conference to learn about reading strategies for teachers is happening June 11. The first STEM development training will be June 26. 'We want to be a 'train the trainer' center. Once you come and learn with us, you can share that knowledge with people in your school building, you can share that knowledge with people in your community, in your school and with students to share with their friends,' says UE Driving Possibilities Design and Innovation STEM Coordinator Adison White. 'That's how we're going to create exponential growth within our community.' 'It's a free conference for undergrad and practicing teachers that's just going to be a a full day of hands-on experience, talking about science of reading implementation in classrooms specifically of basically kindergarten through 3rd grade, and then some other pieces sprinkled in there as well,' says Assistant Professor of Education Jared Turney.
