Giants Starting Rookie Jaxson Dart Gets Simms Prediction
The New York Giants, in the mind of Chris Simms, have nothing to fear but ...
Well, fear itself.
Simms, the son of former Giants quarterback Phil Simms, is projecting that rookie QB Jaxson Dart could start ahead of schedule.

His reasoning, basically? The Giants are about to have a subpar season and therefore, there's nothing to be scared of when it comes to benching Russell Wilson and playing the kid.
"I don't expect the Giants to be a super team here," Simms explained during Monday's edition of FanDuel TV's "Up & Adams.'' "I'm not picking the Giants to go to the playoffs. ...
"If Jaxson Dart is phenomenal through training camp ... and has a really good preseason, and Russell Wilson is just, eh, just OK and doesn't look all that sharp, I don't think they'll be scared to start Jaxson Dart here."
That means ... in Week 1? We strongly doubt that.

As an accomplished Super Bowl champion and a 2024 playoff starter, Wilson gives New York the best chance to win. And playoff realities aside, that's the point in Week 1.
Once the Giants are truly in the midst of subpar?
That might be a different story.
There are two paths to Dart playing by some sort of October deadline mentioned by Simms, himself a former NFL QB and now an NBC analyst.
Either he's way ahead of schedule ...
Or the Wilson-led Giants stink.
The ideal scenario? The first concept comes true ... and the second one does not.
