Marcedes Lewis hasn't discussed teaming up with Aaron Rodgers, Steelers, TE says

Marcedes Lewis hasn't discussed teaming up with Aaron Rodgers, Steelers, TE says Show Caption Hide Caption Former NFL QB Alex Smith weighs in on the Aaron Rodgers situation Alex Smith explains why Aaron Rodgers should return for at least one more year. Sports Seriously Marcedes Lewis is hoping to suit up for a 20th and final NFL season in 2025. Could the 41-year-old seek to reunite with his former teammate Aaron Rodgers to achieve his goal? Lewis was asked by Kay Adams on the Friday, May 29 episode of her "Up and Adams" show about the possibility of playing with Rodgers to close his career. The 2006 first-round pick revealed it is something the two discussed during their five seasons together with the Green Bay Packers. "It's always been something A-Rod would bring up, even when we were in Green Bay," Lewis said. "He was like, 'Hey, we gotta retire together.'" Lewis explained that he and Rodgers "connected and became really good friends" while they were with the Packers. He credited their willingness to put in the work to find consistent success with being the "thread" between them. Does that connection mean Lewis could end up with the Pittsburgh Steelers if Rodgers signs with the organization? The veteran tight end threw cold water on that theory for the time being. "Nah, we haven't talked about playing with the Steelers," Lewis said. "No." Perhaps that will change if Rodgers signs or if the Steelers dip into the tight end market after losing projected third-stringer Donald Parham to a torn Achilles. OPINION: Signing Aaron Rodgers is wrong move for Steelers at this point Lewis spent the last two seasons of his career with the Chicago Bears and played 19.37% of the team's offensive snaps in 2024. He had just one catch for two yards but thrived as a blocker, grading as Pro Football Focus' 12th-best pass blocker among tight ends. Lewis – who also suited up for all 17 games, marking the fourth consecutive season he achieved that goal – is hoping to find a similar role as he seeks out a new landing spot for the upcoming NFL season. "For me, it's just ... whoever values me and respects me and knows my skill set and [is] able to put me in position to play and not just be a guy on the sideline thinking that I'm 'just an older guy,'" Lewis said when explaining where he would like to play in 2025.

Podz shares wholesome parallel for Steph's Warriors mentorship

Podz shares wholesome parallel for Steph's Warriors mentorship originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area In his two seasons with the Warriors, Brandin Podziemski has made a clear effort to be an understudy to Steph Curry, one of the NBA's greatest point guards ever. Advertisement After all, during Podziemski's rookie season in 2023, Curry likened Podziemski to 'the annoying little brother who asks questions all the time.' Naturally, that begs a follow-up question in this familial metaphor, as Kay Adams posed to Podziemski during Tuesday's episode of 'Up and Adams.' Does that make Curry the 'annoying big brother?' Not in Podziemski's eyes; he delegated that role to either Buddy Hield or Jimmy Butler. Instead, Podziemski has a different parallel in mind for the 16-year NBA veteran Curry. 'Steph's just kind of like one of those wise uncles that just sits around in a rocking chair and just has a bunch of knowledge and wisdom and is good at a lot of things, but doesn't say much unless it needs to be said,' Podziemski explained to Adams. It's hard to argue with that comparison for Curry, who effectively has been there, done that with every situation imaginable in the NBA. Advertisement Regardless of your preferred analogy for their relationship, Curry certainly has acted as a beneficial mentor for Podziemski, who is set up to be a key leader in Golden State when its star eventually departs. DeSean Jackson Has Stern Words for Raiders OC Chip Kelly

DeSean Jackson Has Stern Words for Raiders OC Chip Kelly originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Chip Kelly's reputation as a head coach has taken a hit since his days at Oregon. He had a 46-7 record in four years with the Ducks, which led to him getting hired as the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles. Advertisement He quickly began to ruffle feathers there, but it was easy to accept because he led them to back-to-back 10-win seasons. However, the wheels quickly began to fall off, and he was fired during his third year after alienating many of his best players. One player he alienated was former star wide receiver DeSean Jackson. He had a chance to discuss Kelly going to the Raiders, and it sounds like there's still some bad blood there. Chip Kelly with DeSean Chenoy-Imagn Images He specifically had an issue with the recent revelation that the Raiders want rookie running back Ashton Jeanty to change his stance. 'Honestly, he's got to do better,' Jackson said of Kelly on a recent episode of "Up and Adams." 'I don't want to say his name because I don't like giving him light, but for his stance, I just feel like as a coach you have to do better because this guy has proven he was literally one of the best running backs in college football. He's had the production, he still runs crazy, he led college football in yards. ... Advertisement 'To come in the NFL and try to change the stance up, I'm just not a fan of it. At the end of the day, if he comes in and doesn't have the production or he doesn't do as well … then OK, let's talk about it. But to try to do it before you even play one game, I just don't like it.' Kelly recently came out and clarified that he had nothing to do with the push to change Jeanty's stance and that running backs coach Deland McCullough was the main voice behind that. Regardless, Jackson seemed very eager to take a dig at Kelly, so he mustn't have been a fan during their time together in Philadelphia. Mykel Williams excited to learn from Nick Bosa, Robert Saleh

49ers rookie edge rusher Mykel Williams has been an NFL player only a month. Yet, with Nick Bosa taking Williams under his wing, Williams said he's learned a lot. 'Learning from Bosa -- Bosa came in and helped me tremendously,' Williams told Kay Adams on Up and Adams on Tuesday, via NBC Sports Bay Area. 'Like, he's a great teammate, telling me little stuff about angles and timing and hands. He's really been adding to my game." Advertisement The 49ers made Williams the 11th overall pick to start opposite Bosa, who is a five-time Pro Bowler. The duo gives defensive coordinator Robert Saleh a lot to work with. Saleh is back for a second stint under Kyle Shanahan, rejoining the 49ers after being fired from the Jets. 'It's been great, man,' Williams told Adams, 'just playing for Saleh and in his scheme and his system, where he gives us so much freedom to go do our natural talents, what we're supposed to do. . . . It allows me to go be the pass rusher and the run stopper that I can be. It allows me to play to my strengths. I just thank Saleh for having this scheme and this system.'
