Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel inaugurates, lays foundation for projects worth Rs 430 Cr in Jamnagar
Jamnagar (Gujarat) [India], June 7 (ANI): Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Saturday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for various development works worth Rs 430 Cr in Jamnagar. These projects mark the 20 years of the first 'Urban Development Year' initiated by the then Chief Minister, Narendra Modi. CM Bhupendra Patel, in a post on X, shared that the Gujarat government is celebrating 2025 as 'Urban Development Year'. He also stated that the Jamnagar Municipal Corporation has prepared a development roadmap for the next five years, aiming to improve the 'ease of living' in the city. The CM wrote, 'The state government is celebrating the year 2025 as 'Urban Development Year', under which today, development projects worth more than Rs. 430 crore were inaugurated in Jamnagar city and district. Development projects like community health centres, flyovers, smart schools and Anganwadis, and upgradation of the Government Dental College will inject new vitality into development in Jamnagar. In addition, the Jamnagar Municipal Corporation has prepared a development roadmap for the next 5 years, the implementation of which will increase the 'ease of living' of the citizens.' The Gujarat CM added, 'Respected Modi Saheb had declared the year 2005 as 'Urban Development Year' in Gujarat and started the work of world-class development of cities. Today, it has been 20 years since that. And in these two decades, Jamnagar has shown exemplary development by taking a huge leap in development. A booklet depicting the development story of Jamnagar city in the last 20 years was released today.' CM Bhupendra Patel inaugurated 13 development projects worth Rs 343.39 crore and laid the foundation stones for 28 new projects worth Rs 213.79 crore on Friday, bringing development initiatives worth Rs 557.18 crore to Rajkot. According to a release, addressing the event at the Pramukh Swami Auditorium in Rajkot, the Chief Minister stated that under the 'Urban Development Year' initiative, Rajkot city and district are witnessing significant development. Gandhinagar (Gujarat) [India], June 7 (ANI): Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel inaugurated 13 development projects worth Rs 343.39 crore and laid the foundation stones for 28 new projects worth Rs 213.79 crore, bringing development initiatives worth Rs 557.18 crore to Rajkot, said an official release. Addressing the event at the Pramukh Swami Auditorium in Rajkot, the Chief Minister stated that under the Urban Development Year initiative, Rajkot city and district are witnessing significant development. He expressed confidence that the projects being inaugurated and launched today would enhance the 'Ease of Living' for the people of Rajkot. Reflecting on Rajkot's development journey over the past two decades, the Chief Minister noted that projects such as Atal Sarovar, AIIMS, an international airport, and various flyovers have transformed the city and improved the quality of urban life. The newly developed art gallery and other major development initiatives underscore the state government's commitment to urban welfare. Regarding Rajkot's future growth trajectory, the Chief Minister stated that the Government of Gujarat has planned six strategic growth hubs across the state, modelled on the successful example of Surat, with Rajkot as one of the key hubs. To support this vision, a dedicated Regional Economic Plan is being formulated. Rajkot has emerged as a prominent centre for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), along with the engineering, gold and silver, and jewellery-making sectors. CM Patel said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, efforts are underway to connect these industries to world-class markets, accelerating their global competitiveness and boosting their economic contribution. On the occasion of the 352nd coronation anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the Chief Minister recalled Shivaji's establishment of good governance centred on public welfare, security, and strategic leadership and noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has ushered in a new era of development-focused politics inspired by the spirit of 'Nagarik Devo Bhava,' ensuring that even the most marginalised citizens benefit from governance. This approach has created a successful model of citizen-centric administration over the past 11 years. Following the Prime Minister's visionary path, Rajkot is now receiving development works worth Rs 557.18 crore, including Rs 238 crore dedicated to the energy sector. The Chief Minister stated that during his tenure as Chief Minister of Gujarat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the visionary Jyotigram Yojana, which ensured a 24-hour electricity supply to every village in the state. Dedicated feeders were created for agriculture, and a balanced approach was adopted to provide sufficient power for both industry and farming. Referring to the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, the Chief Minister highlighted that, as per a recent survey, around 3.40 lakh households in Gujarat have installed solar rooftops. Of the solar energy generated, 58 per cent was used for domestic consumption while 42 per cent was sold back to the government, helping citizens to earn an income and urging more people to avail themselves of the highly beneficial scheme. The Chief Minister also noted that farmers are significantly benefiting from solar power schemes, with 98 per cent of the state's farmers now receiving electricity during the daytime. He further stated that under the visionary SAUNI Yojana, the Prime Minister ensured water supply to every village across the Saurashtra region. With reliable access to electricity, water, and excellent road connectivity, industrial and economic development in Rajkot and across Saurashtra has accelerated significantly. The Rs 112 crore road infrastructure projects announced today for the Rajkot district will further strengthen industrial growth and provide citizens with enhanced transportation facilities. The Chief Minister stated that in 2005, to make urbanisation in Gujarat well-planned and systematic, the then Chief Minister and current Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, launched the Urban Development Year--an initiative that marked a turning point in the State's urban growth journey. To commemorate the 20th anniversary of this landmark initiative, the Government of Gujarat has decided to celebrate 2025 as an Urban Development Year, to develop world-class cities. Reaffirming the government's commitment to green growth, the Chief Minister noted that maintaining clean and plastic-free cities is a shared responsibility, contributing to the vision of a 'Clean Gujarat and Green Gujarat.' On this occasion, the Chief Minister congratulated the Prime Minister and the Indian Armed Forces for the remarkable success of Operation Sindoor. Addressing the event, the Water Resources Minister Kunvarji Bavaliya said that the development initiatives launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his tenure as Chief Minister of Gujarat are now delivering substantial results under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. He stated that Gujarat is progressing through inclusive and balanced growth, with benefits reaching every section of society. The Minister further stated that the State Government has incorporated not only electricity, water, and roads into the development journey, but also arts and sports, truly fulfilling the mantra of 'Vikas Bhi, Virasat Bhi.' He shared that in remote areas like Jasdan, the Gujarat Government has developed a large-scale indoor-outdoor sports complex at a cost of Rs 8 crore, equipped with facilities for athletics, judo, kabaddi, kho-kho, and more. This initiative will empower players from Jasdan to excel at the national level. Promoting such a sports culture will also strengthen Gujarat's preparedness to host global sporting events like the 2030 Commonwealth Games and the 2036 Olympic Games. Highlighting the State Government's commitment to ensuring sufficient supply even in remote areas, the Minister stated that while Saurashtra was once considered a water-scarce region, the SAUNI Yojana has transformed the scenario by channelling River Narmada's resources to villages, securing water availability for citizens even during summers. To further enhance water security in Rajkot, the newly inaugurated Moviya, Machhu-1, and Padadhari projects will provide 100 litres per person per day to lakhs of residents across Gondal, Rajkot, Padadhari, Kotda Sangani, and Lodhika regions. On this occasion, Mayor Nayna Pedhadiya expressed her gratitude to the Chief Minister for dedicating development projects worth over Rs 1,623 crore to the Rajkot district within just six months. She also outlined various development initiatives and highlighted pioneering efforts in environmental conservation, such as bore well recharge, subsidies for electric bikes, and solid waste management. Rajkot District Collector Prabhav Joshi delivered the welcome address and outlined the program's structure. He stated that good governance and public welfare remain central to the Gujarat Government's administrative framework. Under the leadership of the Chief Minister, citizens of Rajkot district and the municipal area have been gifted 41 development projects across various government departments, valued at approximately Rs 525 crore. Referring to the inauguration of a new Taluka-level Sports Complex in Jasdan, the Collector highlighted the State Government's commitment to promoting sports through the establishment of this state-of-the-art facility. Built by the district administration on seven acres of land at a cost of Rs 8.40 crore, the complex aims to strengthen the region's sports infrastructure. He further noted that the Chief Minister inaugurated 13 development works worth Rs 343.39 crore and laid the foundation stones for 27 projects valued at Rs 181.67 crore. On this occasion, the CM handed over a reimbursement subsidy letter worth Rs 75 lakh to the Rajkot Engineering Association. Beneficiaries also received property cards issued under the SVAMITVA Yojana. Additionally, as part of the Nirmal Gujarat 2.0 campaign, incentive cheques worth Rs 10,000 were distributed to the sanitation workers. (ANI)

Gujarat: CM Patel grants approval for projects worth over Rs. 1,700 cr in six municipal corporations
Gandhinagar (Gujarat) [India], June 6 (ANI): Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has adopted a significant approach to enhancing urban welfare with better facilities during the Urban Development Year 2025, which the State Government is celebrating. In this regard, the Chief Minister has granted in-principle approval for works worth over Rs. 1700.57 crore in a single day for various development projects in 6 newly formed municipal corporations, 5 municipalities, and the Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar Municipal Corporations. During his tenure as the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi initiated effective and planned urban management with the celebration of Urban Development Year in 2005. Through his foresight, urbanization was embraced as a unique opportunity for development. This vision, coupled with public participation, led to the development of beautiful, clean, and dynamic cities, consequently establishing the state's urban centres as well-planned, developed cities. Inspired by the Prime Minister, the state's two-decade-long successful urban development journey is now being further advanced under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. To guide urban transformation and empower citizens effectively, the year 2025 is being celebrated as the Urban Development Year. On May 27, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the celebration of this Urban Development Year and gave a vision to make cities dynamic centers of economic activity. To realise that vision, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, under the Swarnim Jayanti Mukhya Mantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana, gave in-principle approval for works worth over Rs. 1700.57 crore. From the total amount approved by the Chief Minister for development works, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation will receive Rs. 546 crore, Gandhinagar Rs. 32 crore, and among the newly formed municipal corporations: Anand Rs. 148 crore, Morbi Rs. 270.08 crore, Surendranagar Rs. 257.60 crore, Nadiad Rs. 71.91 crore, Vapi Rs. 251.91 crore, and Navsari Rs. 90.35 crore. Additionally, Vadnagar municipality will receive Rs. 16.37 crore, Himmatnagar Rs. 7.33 crore, Siddhpur Rs. 3.74 crore, Halvad Rs. 4.02 crore, and Bharuch municipality will receive Rs. 85.52 lakh for development works. The Chief Minister has approved Rs. 676.28 crore for a total of 247 inter-structural facility works in six newly formed municipal corporations, including streetlights, solar facilities, city beautification, development of public gardens, drainage, traffic circles, rainwater harvesting, stormwater drainage lines, city civic centers, fire equipment, etc. Under the Mukhya Mantri Shaheri Sadak Yojana, the Chief Minister has given in-principle approval for works worth Rs. 652.78 crore for road renovation, resurfacing, white topping, and repair of roads wider than 60 feet in Anand, Surendranagar, Vapi, and Morbi municipal corporations, as well as Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar municipal corporations. Furthermore, under the Swarnim Jayanti Mukhya Mantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana, the Chief Minister has approved works worth Rs. 191.91 crore for essential infrastructure, such as filter plant repairs, roads, gutters, storm drains, and water facilities for the Surendranagar, Vapi, and Anand municipal corporations. He has also approved Rs. 31 crore for the construction of iconic roads in Anand and Surendranagar municipal corporations and sanctioned works worth Rs. 85.52 lakh for standard plot paver block works under the Private Society Public Participation Scheme (Khangi Society Jan Bhagidari Yojana) in societies within Bharuch municipality. To provide easy access to drinking water in newly included areas of towns and cities, the Chief Minister has approved a total of Rs. 67.35 crore from the Swarnim Jayanti Mukhya Mantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana for water supply works in Himmatnagar and Siddhpur municipalities and Morbi municipal corporation. In addition, Morbi and Vapi municipal corporations and Halvad municipality have been sanctioned works worth a combined total of Rs. 64.02 crore for works such as drinking water lines, underground gutters, asphalt roads, CC roads, and fire station construction in outgrowth areas. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has stated that the amount allocated for the development of urban welfare works will add new momentum to the urban development of the state in the coming days, enabling citizens to realise the goal of 'earning well - living well' through the planned development of cities and urban areas. For 75 years, we tolerated proxy wars: PM Modi
On the second day of his Gujarat visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi continued hammering Pakistan over its support to terrorism and said that for 75 years India has tolerated proxy wars but not any more. PM Modi said this on Tuesday, while attending the celebrations commemorating 20 years of Gujarat's Urban Growth Story at Gandhinagar's Mahatma Mandir, marking two decades of structured and sustainable urban transformation in the state. As part of the occasion, PM Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation of development projects worth Rs 5,536 crore. These include housing, health, urban planning, and infrastructure initiatives aimed at boosting the state's future readiness. Recalling his launch of the Urban Development Year 2005 as the then Chief Minister of Gujarat, PM Modi formally announced the Urban Development Year 2025, a new phase of the urban transformation initiative. The plan aims to further strengthen urban infrastructure, sustainable living, and civic amenities across Gujarat. Beginning his address with chants of "Bharat Mata Ki Jai", the Prime Minister reflected on his recent visit across Gujarat: "Yesterday I was in Vadodara, Dahod, Bhuj, Ahmedabad and today in Gandhinagar. I could feel the patriotic fervour everywhere -- every hand held a Tricolour and every heart was filled with nationalism. It was an unforgettable sight, not just in Gujarat but across the nation." In a significant and emotionally charged portion of his speech, PM Modi addressed the long-standing issue of terrorism stemming from Pakistan. "In 1947, when Maa Bharati was divided, the chains of colonial rule should have been broken, but instead, the country was split into three parts. On that very night, the first terror attack began in Kashmir. A part of our nation -- PoK -- was taken away under the cover of terrorism. Sardar Patel had wanted the army not to stop until PoK was taken back. But no one listened to him," he said. PM Modi sharply criticised decades of tolerance towards terrorism, saying: "For 75 years, we tolerated proxy wars. Tourists, pilgrims, civilians -- wherever they found a chance, they attacked. Tell me, should we keep tolerating this? 'Goli ka jawab gole se dena chahiye' (Or should we respond to bullets with bombs)?" Reinforcing India's commitment to peace, the Prime Minister added, "We believe in Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam -- the world is our family. We want peace for our neighbours too. But when provoked repeatedly, India has to remind the world that this (India) is also a land of warriors." Among the key announcements was the e-foundation laying of a 1,800-bed hospital in Ahmedabad's Civil Medical campus, to be built at a cost of Rs 588 crore, significantly enhancing healthcare capacity in the region. Additionally, health infrastructure worth Rs 672 crore was inaugurated, including a satellite centre of the U.N. Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Centre in Gandhinagar. The Rs 84 crore facility, located within the Gandhinagar Civil Hospital campus, will serve patients from North Gujarat and neighbouring regions with state-of-the-art cardiac and neurocare services. The event in Gandhinagar reinforced PM Modi's long-term vision of inclusive, modern, and resilient urban development -- integrating infrastructure, health, and heritage while responding to the evolving challenges of the nation.

Today in Politics: PM Modi to commemorate 20 years of Gujarat Urban Growth Story
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel to Gandhinagar on Tuesday, the second day of his visit to Gujarat and will attend a special event to commemorate 20 years of the Gujarat Urban Growth Story. The event marks two decades since the launch of the Urban Development Year 2005, an initiative spearheaded by then Chief Minister Narendra Modi aimed at transforming Gujarat's urban environment through better infrastructure and governance. The PM will launch the Urban Development Year 2025, a new roadmap for urban progress in Gujarat. As part of this initiative, he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for a range of urban development, health, and water supply projects. Over 22,000 dwelling units under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) will be dedicated to beneficiaries, and funds amounting to Rs 3,300 crore will be released to urban local bodies under the Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana. The State Clean Air Programme will also be launched to improve air quality and promote sustainable urban living. TDP's three-day Mahanadu in Jagan stronghold The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) will begin its three-day annual Mahanadu in Kadapa from Tuesday in what is being seen as a politically historic event. For the first time, the party is holding this mega gathering in Kadapa—a stronghold of the YSRCP—signaling the people's resounding shift of support to TDP, following its sweeping mandate in the 2024 elections. Speaking ahead of the event, Union Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu described Mahanadu as a 'major festival that unites the Telugu Desam Party family.' He urged all 'Pasupu Sainyam' (TDP cadre) to participate in large numbers and celebrate the victory that has redefined political equations in the state. Foreign Secretary Misri to begin three-day US visit Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri will start a three-day visit to the US beginning Tuesday. The Ministry of External Affairs said Misri's trip to the US is a follow-up to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Washington in February. 'Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri will be visiting Washington DC from May 27-29 to meet with senior officials of the US administration,' it said. 'The visit is a follow-up to the prime minister's visit to the United States in February when both sides had launched the India-US COMPACT (Catalysing Opportunities for Military Partnership, Accelerated Commerce & Technology) for the 21st Century,' it said in a statement. – With PTI inputs
