Gayatri Sharma, aka Gayu's Kitchen, banned from making her viral videos by employer; fans rise up in support: ‘The jealous ones…'
Gayatri Sharma, who gained popularity on social media through her viral short videos, opened up about why she deleted them from her channel. She said in a new video that her employer, an NGO whose canteen she operates, has barred her from shooting on the premises. Gayatri, who's social media handle is Gayu's Kitchen, would make videos about the meals she prepared for children at her NGO. The videos gained massive popularity, with the channel accumulating over 4 lakh subscribers. During this time, Gayatri's own story also became known; she was raised in a children's home herself, and struggled for years to make ends meet before becoming a social media personality.
In her new video, she said that she had remained silent about her setbacks because she didn't want to dump her sadness onto others. 'I know you're upset with me for not telling you what happened. But I still have my job at the NGO, it's just that they don't want me to make my videos there anymore. Actually, these videos aren't my priorities. My job is my priority. What matters to me are my kids, and giving them good food. It's okay if I can't make my videos anymore. These children are everything to me,' she said.

Gayatri said that she started making videos to put parents at ease about the food that their kids were being served. She said that her catchphrase, 'pyaare pyaare rice', has been eternalised because of the virality that her videos achieved. In the videos, Gayatri would show viewers the food that she had made for the kids at the NGO at various times of the day. The meals would typically include 'pyaare pyaare rice'. She concluded, 'As you know, I've seen so many ups and downs in my life. And I never give up. I've always been very strong. I used to enjoy making videos, but it's a part of life. You have no idea what you have done for me, what your love has done for me. You are priceless, my children are priceless. Keep smiling, I love you all.'
Gayatri's fans voiced their disappointment, anger, and support in the comments section. 'Good people always suffer alot in life. But I strongly feel that Gayatri will fly like an eagle high. She is a warrior since childhood,' one person wrote. 'Her explanation shows the kind of person she is. Genuine, kind and grounded,' another person wrote. A third person commented, 'They stop you because they can't digest the fact that you are doing so well by doing just a simple thing in this platform and showing what kind of food a children studying there get in daily basis and you have correct point, the videos you made made will surely make parents relax that their children are eating healthy and good food. Sadly the jealous one couldn't see your progress.'
In an interview with Urban Guide, Gayatri had shared some insights about her life. She said that she grew up in a children's facility, but had to move out and get a job after she turned 18. She worked for over a year as a security guard at a McDonald's outlet in Delhi, before getting the mess contract at an NGO.
