Trump says Zelenskyy wants to back out of mineral deal, addresses 3rd term during gaggle
President Donald Trump said Sunday that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is trying to back out of a rare earth deal with the U.S., adding if he does that he is going to have "some problems." "I think Zelenskyy, by the way, he's trying to back out of the rare earth deal, and if he does that, he's got some problems – big, big problems," Trump said while speaking to reporters on Air Force One on Sunday. "We made a deal on rare earths, and now he's saying, 'well, you know, I want to renegotiate the deal.' He wants to be a member of NATO. Well, he was never going to be a member of NATO. He understands that, so, if he's looking to renegotiate the deal, he's got big problems." Zelenskyy said last month that Ukraine is ready to sign an agreement on minerals and security with the U.S. at any time, noting that the agreement is seen as a step toward greater security and solid security guarantees. Zelenskyy's statement came after a visit to the White House where the two leaders were expected to sign an agreement on rare Earth minerals. But the visit turned sour, and Zelenskyy was kicked out of the president's home with no deal in hand. Trump Says Intel Pause On Ukraine Has Been 'Just About' Lifted; Says Tariffs Will Make America Rich While speaking to reporters on Sunday, Trump said he and his team were making progress on a ceasefire deal between Ukraine and Russia. Read On The Fox News App One reporter asked if Trump would say his relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin was at its lowest point. The president said no, adding he did not think Putin was going to go back on his word for a partial ceasefire. He also said deals are made with people whether you like them or not. Trump Exempts Mexico From Tariffs For Usmca Goods Until April 2 Trump explained that Putin had said some things over the last few days about Zelenskyy not being credible, adding he was not happy about that. But, Trump added, he thinks Putin is going to be good. He also said he would not want to put secondary tariffs on Russia. The U.S. put secondary tariffs on Venezuela, which Trump said has had a "very strong impact." "You know that every ship just got out and left. A lot of them left. They dropped the hoses right into the ocean, and they left. They didn't want to be there for a minute because they didn't want those tariffs to catch on," Trump said. "But they didn't want me to see them there. So, Venezuela and secondary tariffs, all secondary tariffs, are very strong, because essentially it says if you disobey our orders, you cannot do business in the United States of America, and that's the catch." Trump said he plans to hit all the countries across the board with tariffs. Trump To Put Tariff Exemptions On Certain Goods From Canada, Mexico "If you look at the history, and you look at what's happened to us…take a look at trade with Asia, and I wouldn't say anybody is doing it as fairly or nicely," Trump said. "We're…going to be much more generous than they were to us." Trump also addressed questions about possibly running for a third term, which earlier in the day he said he was "not joking" about. Initially, Trump told reporters he was not looking at a third term, noting that people have spoken with him about a possible third term. Emmanuel Macron Calls 'Emergency Meeting' For European Leaders To Discuss Trump: Report He said the 2020 election, in which he lost to now former President Joe Biden, was "totally rigged," but he would not take credit for a third try. Trump also said his administration has had the best 100 days than any other president. "I was with some very important people today, and they said they've never seen turnaround as fast as this," he said. As reporters continued to press him about a third term, though, Trump quickly shot them down. "I don't want to talk about it," he told one reporter. "I don't want to talk about a third term now. We have a long time. We have almost four years to go."Original article source: Trump says Zelenskyy wants to back out of mineral deal, addresses 3rd term during gaggle

Trump says intel pause on Ukraine has been 'just about' lifted; says tariffs will make America rich
President Donald Trump said the U.S. has "just about" lifted the intelligence pause on Ukraine, adding that his administration has to do anything it can to get Ukrainians serious about making a deal to end the war with Russia. "You know, I say they don't have the cards. Nobody really has the cards," Trump told reporters during a gaggle on Air Force One on Sunday evening. "Russia doesn't have the cards…What you have to do is you have to make a deal, and you have to stop the killing. It's a senseless war, and we're going to get it stopped." On Friday, Fox News Digital learned from three sources familiar with the situation that the U.S. was continuing to share some defensive intelligence with Ukraine to protect it against incoming Russian strikes. Federal intelligence, the work of the CIA, FBI and human intelligence, and data that helps with offensive Ukrainian strikes against Russia had already been paused. Read On The Fox News App "We, we just about have. I mean, we really just about have," he said. "And we want to do anything we can to get Ukraine to be serious about getting something done." Trump also noted that he thinks Ukraine will sign the minerals deal, but he wants them to want peace at the moment. Trump To Put Tariff Exemptions On Certain Goods From Canada, Mexico When asked how Ukraine should show it wants peace, Trump said they have not shown it to the extent he thinks they should. "I think right now they haven't, but I think they will be, and I think it's going to become evident over the next two or three days," the president said, adding that we have to have peace over anything. "This week, hundreds of people died in cities in Ukraine, and we got to get it stopped. It would have never happened if I was president." During the nearly 10-minute gaggle with reporters, Trump fielded questions on a variety of topics, including the types of sanctions or tariffs he may impose on Russia. Emmanuel Macron Calls 'Emergency Meeting' For European Leaders To Discuss Trump: Report The president explained that he and his team had been looking at their options, but his focus was on a few big meetings coming up in Saudi Arabia, which will include Russia and Ukraine. "We'll see if we can get something done," Trump said. "A lot of people died this week, as you know, in Ukraine – not only Ukrainians but Russians. So, I think everybody wants to see it get done. We're going to make a lot of progress, I believe, this week." Trump was also asked what he would say to Americans watching their retirement accounts freefall from their highest in years amid concerns about tariffs. National Security Advisor Says Putin, Zelenskyy Agree 'Only President Trump Could Get Them To The Table' The president told the reporter the tariffs "are going to be the greatest thing we've ever done as a country," adding that they will "make our country rich again." The tariffs, Trump explained, will bring companies and factories back, noting that 90,000 factories in the U.S. had closed since the beginning of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) between the U.S., Canada and Mexico, which was in effect from 1994 to 2020. At the end of his time with reporters, Trump was asked if he was worried about a recession, after hesitating on the same question when asked by FOX Business' Maria Bartiromo. "Of course you hesitate. All I know is…we're going to take in hundreds of billions of dollars in tariffs, and we're going to become so rich you're not going to know where to spend all that money," Trump said. "I'm telling you; you just watch. We're going to have jobs. We're going to have open factories. It's going to be great."Original article source: Trump says intel pause on Ukraine has been 'just about' lifted; says tariffs will make America rich

Trump to put tariff exemptions on certain goods from Canada, Mexico
President Trump on Thursday exempted most goods from Canada and Mexico covered under the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) from his 25% tariffs for the next month. The tariffs went into effect earlier this week and will now be reinstated April 2. On Tuesday, Trump imposed the 25% tariffs on the United States' largest trading partners. Doug Holtz-Eakin, the president of the American Action Forum, didn't agree. Read On The Fox News App Tariffs Could Play A Significant Role In An Already Shaky Housing Market He told Fox News, "In the end, we've got taxes on American consumers and businesses. Those taxes are substantial. I think people underappreciate that this round taken at face value would be roughly four times larger than anything he did in his first presidency. The impacts would be substantial." Holtz-Eakin said it would add to inflation and slow economic growth. "Those are not things that the American people want," he said. Canada said earlier this week it will issue 25% retaliatory tariffs. A Canadian source told Reuters the country wouldn't respond until it had seen the entirety of Trump's amended tariff order. Trump announced the tariffs on his first day in office in January after declaring fentanyl deaths a national emergency. He said the drug makes its way from China to the U.S. via Mexican and Canadian imports. "I can confirm that we will continue to be in a trade war that was launched by the United States for the foreseeable future," Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who will step down Sunday, told reporters Thursday. Trump has also imposed a 20% tariff on all Chinese goods. Trump had mentioned an exemption for Mexico earlier Thursday, but the new amendment also covers Canada. "After speaking with President Claudia Sheinbaum of Mexico, I have agreed that Mexico will not be required to pay Tariffs on anything that falls under the USMCA Agreement," Trump wrote Thursday before including Canada in the exemption. "This Agreement is until April 2nd. I did this as an accommodation, and out of respect for, President Sheinbaum. Our relationship has been a very good one, and we are working hard, together, on the Border, both in terms of stopping Illegal Aliens from entering the United States and, likewise, stopping Fentanyl. Thank you to President Sheinbaum for your hard work and cooperation!" Reuters contributed to this report. Original article source: Trump to put tariff exemptions on certain goods from Canada, Mexico

Trump, Trudeau tariff call was heated and included profanity: report
A phone call between President Donald Trump and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau over the 25% tariffs imposed by the Trump administration this week grew heated and included profanity, a report said. The Wall Street Journal cited a person familiar with the matter when describing the nature of the call. Canada has imposed 25% retaliatory tariffs against U.S. goods. The discussion, which lasted 50 minutes on Wednesday, was a "colorful call" but also "very substantive," Trudeau said Thursday, according to Reuters. "I can confirm that we will continue to be in a trade war that was launched by the United States for the foreseeable future," Trudeau said, adding, "We are... trying to make sure that these tariffs don't overly harm, certainly in the short term, certain sectors." Trump Exempts Mexico From Tariffs For Usmca Goods Until April 2 Trump said after the call that Trudeau's efforts to crack down on the flow of fentanyl across the Canada-U.S. border weren't "good enough" to stave off his tariffs. He also described the phone call as ending "in a 'somewhat' friendly manner." Read On The Fox Business App "Believe it or not, despite the terrible job he's done for Canada, I think that Justin Trudeau is using the Tariff problem, which he has largely caused, in order to run again for Prime Minister," Trump wrote in a follow-up post on his Truth Social account on Thursday. "So much fun to watch!" Trump Tells Trudeau Fentanyl Crackdown 'Not Good Enough' To Stave Off Tariffs Trump also announced Thursday that he would exempt Mexico from tariffs on goods under the United States–Mexico–Canada Agreement (USMCA) until April 2. The decision came after Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick told CNBC, "My expectation is the president will come to the agreement today that USMCA compliant goods will not have a tariff for the next month until April 2." Trudeau said Lutnick's comments "aligns with some of the conversations that we have been having with administration officials, but I'm going to wait for an official agreement to talk about Canadian response and look at the details of it," according to Reuters.
