Srisailam to host YogAndhra event on May 31
Popular pilgrim and tourist destination Srisailam has been chosen for special programmes as part of the State's month-long YogAndhra initiative in the run-up to the International Yoga Day celebrations on June 21.
According to Srisailam temple Executive Officer M. Srinivasa Rao, four tourism places have been selected for the YogAndhra event and Srisailam was among them. The event will be held on May 31 at the Gangadhara Mandapam.
The temple authorities have been conducting yoga classes since May 24. Mr. Rao, who reviewed arrangements at Gangadhara Mandapam, said that the event was being held to create awareness about the importance of yoga for a healthy living. He asked officials to set up a massive stage and proper sound system at the Gangadhara Mandapam for the event. He asked officials to arrange green mats in front of the stage and also instal LED screens for the participants and audience to view the yogasanas performed by the experts.
The EO directed officials to make arrangements for water and biscuits for the participants, set up an air balloon to promote the event, ensure proper sanitation and adequate security measures.
The yoga classes are being held for temple staff and locals till June 20 from 7 am to 8 am. Yoga experts have been showing yogasanas including, Vrukshasanam, Vakrasanam, Uttana Paadasanam, Padahastasanam, Dandasanam and others.
