Education institutions in Madurai observe 11th International Yoga Day

Students and faculty of Mannar Thirumalai Naicker College, marking the 11th International Yoga Day, celebrated the event starting from 6 a.m. on the college premises here on Saturday. The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of nearly 500 NCC cadets from various units. Col. V.K.S. Chauhan, Madurai Group Commander, NCC Headquarters, Col. Samit Karki, Commanding Officer and Lt. Col. Sreekant, Administrative Officer, 7 TN Battalion NCC, who were present at the event addressed the gathering and emphasized the significance of yoga in cultivating discipline and holistic well-being among the youth. Somasundram, a yoga instructor, guided the participants through the twelve structured yoga practice sessions, designed to impart both theoretical and practical knowledge. The celebration not only highlighted the physical and mental health benefits of yoga, but also showcased the unity and discipline that NCC instils in students across various institutions. Doctors at Government Rajaji Hospital and students of Madurai Medical College in the presence of dean L. Arul Sundaresh Kumar, Resident Medical Officer (RMO) S. Saravanan, among others, on the morning of the International Yoga Day, signifying the role of yoga and its related exercises on physical and mental well-being, performed aasanas on the college premises.
