Excellent Educators: Ms. Iwalani Wilson More information on the other four nominated educators can be found below: Aubrey Simmons Aubrey Simmons is a 4th grade teacher at Alanton Elementary School. VBCPS nominated Ms. Simmons after one of the students in her class was taken from her mom prior to their winter break. Simmons then went through all the steps and hurdles to become a foster parent for the student through the end of the school year. VBCPS also said Simmons is willing to help other students in need, saying, 'her love and generosity are exceptional.' Docs: Former Kempsville High teacher arrested with hatchet and knives in vehicle

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – Court documents reveal alarming new details following the arrest of a former Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) teacher. 59-year-old Joseph Molineaux was arrested in the parking lot of Kempsville High School Friday. Police charged him with trespassing, but said he never entered the school. Former VBCPS employee arrested on trespassing charge Court documents obtained by WAVY say Molineaux texted his mom a threatening message the day before his arrest. The checklist for bail determination states that Molineaux threatened to 'mow down' Walmart and Kempsville High School Administration if his dog didn't keep him grounded. According to police, they received a request for a welfare check for Molineaux on April 25 and officers located him at the school, where he was taken into custody. Paperwork states that at the time of his arrest, police found two large knives and a hatchet in his vehicle. When police executed a search warrant at his home, they found two AK-style firearms. Molineaux told police he meant no harm and was drunk at the time, the documents state. He said he was frustrated and was just venting to his mother. In addition to trespassing, police charged Molineaux with possession of a weapon on school property and felony threat to commit serious bodily harm. A bond hearing is scheduled for May 1. Documents also show five charges pending in York County for threats in writing. VBCPS confirmed Molineaux was hired by the school district in August 1999 and said he retired in February 2023 as a PE teacher at Kempsville High School. Continue to check for updates.
