Campaign to connect scientists with farmers from May 29 in Erode

Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan (VKSP), a campaign aimed at connecting scientists and farmers to boost agricultural yields, will be held across the district for 15 days, from May 29 to June 12. Jointly organised by the Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India, and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), the campaign is being implemented by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Erode. According to P. Alagesan, KVK's Senior Scientist and Head, the campaign aims to facilitate preparatory agricultural planning for the Kharif season 2025. The KVK team, along with scientists and officials from the Agriculture Department, will visit all 14 blocks in the district. They will directly interact with farmers to raise awareness on crop management, modern agricultural technologies, organic farming, value-added products, livestock development, and other related topics. In addition, with support from the Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO), drone-based spraying demonstrations will be conducted in selected villages. These demonstrations aim to provide farmers with a clear understanding of technological advancements in the agriculture sector. During the campaign, scientists will visit farmers' fields, inspect crops, identify pests and diseases, suggest control measures, and plan research activities to address emerging challenges faced by farmers. The services of innovative and lead farmers will also be utilised for the benefit of the farming community. The programme is designed to enhance farmers' productivity. Mr. Alagesan has urged all farmers to actively participate in the campaign and take full advantage of the initiatives to improve their farming practices.
