After MP Tejasvi Surya's open letter, Bengalureans decry state of city roads and ‘governance failure'
Bengaluru: Citizens erupted in anger on social media over the city's crumbling infrastructure, following Bangalore South MP

's open letter slamming pothole-riddled roads in the CBD area during Sunday's TCS World 10K run. Netizens responded to Surya's post on X with sarcastic posts, angry complaints and desperate appeals.
X user Sudhindra wrote about the poor state of roads from PES University towards RR Nagar, naming key points such as V Legacy, Global International Management School and Prestige Bagmane Apartments. He urged BBMP and deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar to immediately open up road links between NICE Road and Mysore Road to ease traffic woes.

About Whitefield, one Vivek Malhotra wrote: "Run around Whitefield once, please. You will get an awesome experience of a trail run, especially on Borewell Road stretch. More potholes than actual road and perpetual digging."
Another user, Ratpk, mocked GEAR School Road's condition, claiming, "After walking on this road for many years, my health has improved to alpha levels. Now I can live on any planet with zero support system."
Some didn't mince words about the administration's alleged priorities. Anantha Krishna SN accused both the DCM and the BBMP chief commissioner of focusing on personal wealth rather than public infrastructure. Krishna, in his post, said: "

Many citizens lamented what they called a civic governance failure, especially in areas like Gottigere, Bannerghatta Road, Whitefield, and ECC Road. Residents of these areas chimed in, painting a picture of broken stretches, dust-laden streets, and open drainages. Many alleged that govt officials seldom inspect ground realities.
Vinay Kashyap, an X user, posted, "...Govt isn't even worrying about the common man problems in our state, we don't want to lose the charm of Bangalore, which once was Garden City (sic)."
Speaking to TOI, BS Prahalad, chief engineer at BBMP, said, "We're doing road- repair works and in this year's budget, we have kept aside Rs 19,930 crore for road infrastructure, including tunnel roads, flyovers and concretising roads. A special amount of Rs 700 crore has been kept aside under Brand Bengaluru for micro surfacing, which is for filling up minor cracks. Work will begin soon."
