Women abducted in Ramayana: Minister

caused a stir in the assembly on Monday when he said that even in Ramayana, women were abducted. His response followed BJP MLA
Vanathi Srinivasan
's remarks that TN should not be compared to north Indian states when it comes to crimes against women but with advanced Scandinavian countries.
Vanathi said, "I have a fear that TN is no more a peaceful land, looking at crimes against women. Safety of women has become a concern here."

Law minister S Regupathy said when compared with north Indian states,
crime against women
is low and TN is peaceful.
To this, Duraimurugan intervened and said even recently, a girl was raped by 23 men in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Varanasi constituency. "There will be evil forces in all places. Even in Ramayana, women were abducted. We have taken immediate action in all the cases," Duraimurugan said.
Vanathi responded, saying, "Historically and traditionally, TN has a higher growth rate and henceforth, should be compared with developed countries such as Scandinavian nations."
CM M K Stalin responded, saying if TN needs to be compared with developed nations, then Vanathi should speak to her party high command and seek pending funds for TN.
