Becky Lynch WWE Return Stalled For Major Reason
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Becky Lynch made a triumphant and impactful return to WWE programming at WrestleMania 41 in April 2025, ending a year-long absence that left a significant void in the women's division. "The Man" recently shared in a candid conversation with that her much-anticipated comeback was initially slated to happen several months earlier. Still, unforeseen circumstances, including a health issue, altered those plans. Lynch explained that her hiatus, which commenced after a WWE Women's World Championship loss to Liv Morgan on Raw in May 2024, was initially intended to be much shorter. Her contract was up at the time, providing a natural window for some time off and to pursue other interests. "I took what I thought was going to be three months off during the summer, when my contract came up," Lynch recalled of her initial mindset. She added, "'Okay, seems like a good time to take a little break, get some stuff done.'" However, this planned three-month sabbatical extended considerably due to exciting opportunities outside the wrestling ring. "Then other things came up," Lynch detailed, citing her acting ventures. "I was filming 'Star Trek' and then 'Happy Gilmore' [related project]." As those filming commitments concluded, discussions within WWE turned towards orchestrating her return to the squared circle. A comeback around the time of the Royal Rumble in January 2025 was seriously considered. An emotional Becky Lynch announces she's expecting her first child on 'Monday Night RAW.' WWE "There was talk [of a return] around Rumble time," Lynch disclosed to This would have placed her back in WWE action several months before she eventually reappeared. More news: WWE News: Steve Austin Reveals Real-Life Vince McMahon Confrontation An unexpected personal health issue arose just as these plans were solidifying. "But then at the last minute, I got a skin condition," Lynch revealed, explaining the sudden medical problem that forced a postponement of her return. This unforeseen skin condition became the primary reason the Royal Rumble comeback did not materialize. It necessitated a shift in strategy for her re-entry into WWE storylines. With the January event no longer an option, the focus naturally turned to the next grand spectacle on the WWE calendar. WrestleMania 41 in April then became the new target for "The Man's" return. Lynch herself saw the revised timing as opportune, especially with how it could play into a compelling narrative. "The next big event was WrestleMania, so it seemed to make sense," she explained of the new plan. She also cheekily referenced the storyline that facilitated her specific WrestleMania match. "...especially if I could take Bayley out of the mix and ruin her dreams. It felt doubly brilliant," Lynch added, alluding to the angle where she replaced an "attacked" Bayley. Lynch returned at WrestleMania 41, teaming with Lyra Valkyria to defeat Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez for the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships. This victory was short-lived, as they lost the titles back to Morgan and Rodriguez on Raw after WrestleMania. That title loss immediately triggered Lynch's shocking heel turn on Valkyria. Sterling K. Brown reveals the touching reason he stopped going by his middle name
Sterling K. Brown uses his name as a tribute to his late grandfather. The 49-year-old actor went by his middle name of Kelby until he was in his late teens, but explained that because by that point, he had been without his grandfather for six years, he adopted the moniker he uses now to remember him by. Speaking on 'The Kelly Clarkson Show', he said: "I went by my middle name, I went by Kelby til i was 16 years old. My dad's Sterling Brown Jr. My grandfather Sterling Brown Sr. I'm Sterling Kelby Brown. "I wanted my own name, and it felt like Sterling was like an old man's name. "But because he passed away when I was 10, by the time I turned 16 and I hadn't heard his name for five-and-a-half years, I was like, I kind of just want to hear that name again, so I asked people to call me Sterling." The 'Behind These Hazel Eyes' hitmaker was left visibly moved by his revelation and was almost on the verge of tears. She said: "Okay, okay, that was so sweet and beautiful." Sterling has become a household name in recent years thanks to roles in 'This Is Us' and 'American Crime Story: The People v. O. J. Simpson' but in the early days of his career, he managed to avoid having to get another job by being "so frugal-minded" with the way he lived, including eating as cheaply as possible. His manager of 25 years, Jennifer Wiley-Moxley, told 'There are so many careers built on offers that Sterling had and wasn't available to do. 'Sterling just never had to work doing anything else. He was one of the rare actors who never had to have a side hustle because he was willing to live so frugal-minded that he rented a room in a Harlem townhouse, didn't have his own bathroom, couldn't afford a gym membership. "He would get a dozen Krispy Kreme doughnuts and eat them in front of me at my desk like, 'Well, these are my calories for the day!' He was very fun and very quirky in that way. That grit of 'I'll do whatever I have to do to get it.''

Lawsuit against Jay-Z is dismissed without a settlement
In December 2024, Jay-Z was sued for allegedly raping a 13-year-old more than 20 years ago. He loudly proclaimed his innocence. The NFL, which partners with Jay-Z's Roc Nation for the Super Bowl halftime show, supported him. The presiding judge refused to immediately throw the case out of court. Two months later, the case has been dismissed with prejudice. Which means it can't be re-filed. Typically, a voluntary dismissal happens as the result of a settlement. Jay-Z's attorney, Alex Spiro, said that no settlement was paid. "The false case against Jay-Z, that never should have been brought, has been dismissed with prejudice," Spiro said, via Steven J. Horowitz of "By standing up in the face of heinous and false allegations, Jay has done what few can — he pushed back, he never settled, he never paid one red penny, he triumphed and cleared his name.' The plaintiff was represented by Tony Buzbee, who rose to prominence in NFL circles four years ago after filing a flurry of lawsuits against quarterback Deshaun Watson. Buzbee did not reply to a request for comment from Civil cases are rarely dismissed with prejudice absent a settlement. It's a complete win for Jay-Z, and it can only be interpreted as the vindication he has sought from day one. Sometimes, it happens because the plaintiff has a change of heart. Sometimes, the plaintiff's lawyer realizes that the facts as presented by the plaintiff aren't true. Regardless, the case is over and Jay-Z has been fully cleared. It's as if the case was never even filed.
