Shreveport's first-ever Vegan Community Cookout
SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — Whether you're a seasoned vegan or just curious about the lifestyle, an organization is hosting the first-ever vegan community cooking.
According to the organizers, the Vegan Community Cookout is free and features plant-based food such as BBQ Jackfruit and dairy-free desserts.
The event includes a raffle with exclusive prizes elevating local Black-owned wellness and art businesses.
Vegan Community Cookout Shreveport's raffle prize includes:
A 3-month supply of Sea Moss products ($180 value) from Superb Herb Nutrition
A 1-month Culinary Nutrition Health Coaching Package ($320 value) from Teal Garden Nutrition
A custom painting by EliseGalore
Early bird price: $7 (Save $3!) — available until June 1, 2025
According to their website, individuals can enter the raffle prize early by providing their name and email address.

The raffle winner will be announced during the cookout on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Pamoja Park, Shreveport, LA. The organizer says the winner does not need to be present to win. However, it is encouraged.
VCC organizer Linda J. Montgomery says there's a limited-time Vegan Cookout Merch 'featuring bold Afrocentric patterns and our signature event logo. The soft, cotton, and natural canvas materials are perfect for repping your plant-based pride.'
They are still accepting applications for food vendors, wellness brands, artists and organizations 'who align with holistic living and want to connect with a vibrant crowd.
Vegan Community Cookout Shreveport vendors include:
Jewelry makers
Natural cosmetic products
Graphic artists and comic books
Clothes vendors
Ethnic clothes vendors
Amusement activity vendors (axe throwing, temporary tattoo/face painting, rock wall,
Fitness (Kinesiologist) vendor to host a fitness workshop
Wellness speaker to briefly discuss a topic, such as holistic wellness, veganism, plant-based dietary lifestyle, and preventative wellness.
Vendors can apply online. Fees for food vendors begin at $50, for non-food vendors at $75, and increase after May 13.
