Sumo OTT Release: Here's when and where to watch Shiva, Priya Anand's Tamil sports comedy film
Sumo was released theatrically in April 2025 and opened to mixed responses from the audience. The Tamil sports comedy drama gave a peek into the reality of the lives of sumo wrestlers, which sparks introspection and self-discovery. The film has now made its way onto OTT. When and where to watch Sumo Sumo is streaming on Amazon Prime Video in all languages. While an official announcement is still awaited from the OTT giant on social media, the film is listed under the newly added section of the website. Check it out here: Official trailer and plot of Sumo The film showcases a heartwarming tale of a man who finds a lost and toddler-minded sumo wrestler on one of the Indian beaches. Despite being grown up physically, the wrestler has a mind as innocent and simple as a child. Blending cross-culture storytelling, the film then follows how the two of them bond and try to understand one another, as they realize each other's shortcomings. A series of comedic events bonds them together, while the two of them sailing through misadventures together adds the lighthearted quotient to the somber film. The climax of the film arrives at a point where the man undertakes a journey to Japan to return the young sumo wrestler to where he belongs. Their foray together captures self-discovery, introspection and deeper realizations by both the man and the wrestler. Cast and crew of Sumo Sumo stars Shiva, Priya Anand, Yoshinori Tashiro, VTV Ganesh, Yogi Babu, Sathish, Besant Ravi, Srinath, Nizhalgal Ravi and more in key roles. It is directed by SP Hosimin and is produced by Ishari K Ganesh under the banner of Vels Film International. Nivas K. Prasanna has composed the musical score of the film.

Sumo OTT Release Date: When and where to watch Shiva, Priya Anand and Yoshinori Tashiro's Tamil sports comedy
Sumo OTT Release Date: Shiva, alongside Priya Anand and Yoshinori Tashiro, starred in this Tamil comedy, which arrived in theatres on 25th April this year. Opened to mostly negative reviews, the sports drama earned just Rs 65 lakhs at the box office. Now, it's ready to live a second life on OTT. Sumo will be streaming on Tentkotta starting May 23, 2025. Sumo's cast and crew Other than the lead trio, Sumo also stars VTV Ganesh, Yogi Babu, Sathish, Besant Ravi, Srinath and Nizhalgal Ravi among others. This Nivas K. Prasanna musical is cinematographed by Rajiv Menon and edited by Praveen K. L. The film is produced by Ishari K. Ganesh under his Vels Film International banner. Sumo's plot overview A champion sumo wrestler, Ganesh (played by real-life wrestler Yoshinori), mysteriously washes ashore on a beach near Chennai, alive but with no memory of his past. He's discovered by Shiva (Shiva) and Jack (VTV Ganesh), two locals who take him in. At first, they exploit Ganesh's size and strength in a series of comedic money-making schemes. As the gentle giant becomes a local attraction, especially during events like Vinayaka Chaturthi, they gradually grow fond of him. Over time, clues about Ganesh's past begin to surface. The trio eventually learns that Ganesh was once a sumo champion in Japan, forced out of the sport under mysterious circumstances. Determined to help him reclaim his lost identity and title, Shiva and his friends accompany Ganesh to Japan. There, he faces his former rivals and rediscovers his fighting spirit, leading up to a climactic return to the sumo ring, where he must confront the 'villain' wrestlers and fight for redemption. Sumo's review The Times of India rated the movie 2 out of 5, and a part of their review read, 'The comedy offers sporadic chuckles but doesn't consistently land with impact. It leaves you wishing for more – more creative flair, perhaps a deeper dive into the story's potential. Decent music from Nivas Prasanna and a manageable runtime help keep things moving, making Sumo a light, if unremarkable, viewing experience overall.'

There have been speculations that Tamil star Dhanush is teaming up with director Vignesh Raja of Por Thozhil fame for an upcoming film. However, there has been no official confirmation yet. Now, a source close to the production has told The Hindu that pre-production work of the project, tentatively titled Aruvadai, is underway and that Dhanush will start shooting for it after wrapping his Hindi film Tere Ishq Mein, directed by Aanand L Rai. 'He is currently in the last leg of shoot for his Telugu film Kuberaa, and next week, he will join the sets of Tere Ishq Mein for the final schedule. Once he wraps that film, he will start working on Aruvadai,' says the source. 'They have erected a huge set on the property of Ishari K Ganesh near the EVP Film City in Chennai,' adds the source. Other details regarding the cast and crew of the film are unknown. There has been some confusion about the film Dhanush is set to take on after his current in April, it was announced that Ishari K Ganesh's Vels Film International will bankroll Dhanush's film with Karnan-maker Mari Selvaraj, tentatively called D56. It now seems like Dhanush might shoot for Aruvadai before moving to D56. 'Mari has requested the makers to grant him six months for pre-production and six months for post-production since this is a big-scale project. So Dhanush might have opted to do Aruvadai before D56 goes on floors,' says the source.
