In a commendable initiative aimed at promoting holistic well-being among the Indian community in Qatar, the Indian Cultural Centre (ICC), under the aegis of the Embassy of India, has launched a Free Yoga Workshop Series at the ICC Ashoka Hall. The sessions are scheduled over four consecutive Fridays — 13th, 20th, 27th June and 4th July 2025 — from 8am to 9am.
The inaugural session, held on Friday, 13th June 2025, witnessed an enthusiastic turnout of over 90 participants, reflecting the growing interest in yoga as a pathway to healthier living. The workshop is being led by the highly experienced and certified yoga instructor, Sangeetha, who guided the attendees through a series of structured asanas, breathing techniques, and relaxation exercises designed to enhance both physical flexibility and mental calmness.
The session began with a warm welcome from Venkappa Bhagavatula, head of in-house activities at ICC, who expressed his delight at the overwhelming response. He emphasised the ICC's commitment to promoting cultural and wellness-oriented activities for the benefit of the wider community.
AP Manikantan, president of the Indian Cultural Centre, conveyed a special message highlighting the significance of yoga in achieving balance between the body, mind, and spirit. 'Yoga is more than just physical exercise; it is a way of life that fosters inner peace, resilience, and a deep connection with oneself,' he stated.
The free workshop aligns with ICC's ongoing efforts to promote health, harmony, and unity within the multicultural community of Qatar. The sessions are open to all age groups and skill levels, encouraging beginners and seasoned practitioners alike to embrace the transformative power of yoga.
With three more sessions to follow, the initiative promises to cultivate a sustained culture of wellness and mindfulness among theparticipants.
