Real ID requirements to begin this week: Here's how you can still get yours
Wednesday marks the first day Real ID requirements will go into effect. So, PennDOT is hosting a number of events across the state to squeeze in more people trying to beat the deadline.
In an effort to speed up the process, driver's license centers across the commonwealth are holding Real ID Days on days the centers are normally closed.
PennDOT is hoping to cut the wait time from a statewide average of 25 minutes down to an average of 10 minutes.
We spoke with several people about the process and their reasons for getting a Real ID.

'Honestly, it was super easy. We had all the paperwork we needed, so we were kinda just in and out. It maybe took 20 minutes. A lot of people were complaining, saying it was going to be hours, but it was super quick and easy,' said Veronica Wallace, who got her Real ID on Monday.
'My grandson is in his 18th year in the army, and he's stationed right now at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. So you need your Real ID to get onto a military installation,' said John Hornaman, who also got his Real ID on Monday.
Again, starting Wednesday, you'll need a Real ID or passport to fly commercially or access certain federal facilities.
