Special Eid programmes at Oman Across Ages Museum

MUSCAT, MARCH 29 The award-winning Oman Across Ages Museum, recognised as the 'most beautiful museum in the world for 2024' by the Versailles World Architecture and Design Awards, has lined up a series of special programmes to engage visitors during the Eid holidays. Located in Manah, near the historic city of Nizwa, the museum is an architectural marvel inspired by the Al Hajar Mountains. It offers a unique blend of tradition and modernity, making the visit an enriching experience in itself. Over the course of the three days of Eid, visitors will be treated to performances by various folk art groups. This year's highlight is the Fath Al Khair group from Sur, which will showcase marine arts, bringing the spirit of Oman's seafaring heritage to life. In addition to these cultural performances, the museum will host a food workshop, an engineering village and a variety of family-friendly activities designed to entertain and educate visitors of all ages. The grandeur of the museum has captivated many, including Issa al Harthy, a professional from the tourism industry. He described it as an architectural masterpiece and a must-visit landmark in Oman. Recalling a visit with a German tourist, he shared, 'He said he had never seen a museum like this anywhere in the world. It seamlessly blends history and heritage with modern, interactive experiences.' The museum narrates Oman's history, taking visitors on a journey through millions of years, covering everything from the country's earliest inhabitants to its geological landscape, flora and fauna. With a strong emphasis on scientific explanations, the exhibits provide an immersive learning experience, guiding visitors from prehistoric times to the present. To enhance the visitor experience, the museum offers multiple touring options. Those who prefer to explore on their own can collect booklets and maps from the reception. For a more in-depth understanding, expert-guided tours are available for an additional fee. An audio tour guide service is also offered in multiple languages, providing an immersive experience through the museum's permanent galleries. Entry to the museum is free for several categories of visitors. Senior citizens aged 60 and above, GCC nationals and senior residents can visit free of charge upon presenting valid identification. Children under six years old, as well as school and university students aged 25 and under, also qualify for free entry with a valid student ID. Additionally, members of the Friends of the Oman Museum, staff of public and private museums in Oman and members of ICOM, ICOMOS and Unesco can enjoy complimentary access. With its interactive exhibits, cultural performances and engaging workshops, the Oman Across Ages Museum promises a memorable Eid experience for visitors of all ages.
