F4 from Meteor Garden series to reunite for a concert in 2026
TAIWAN: As reported by CNA via Taiwan's media outlet Mirror Media, the boy group F4 from Taiwanese drama Meteor Garden is said to reunite and perform in 2026 for the first time since 2013. Photo: Instagram/F4 Back in 2001, the romance drama called Meteor Garden completely stole everyone's hearts. It tells the story of a sweet, ordinary teenage girl named Shancai, brought to life by the late Barbie Hsu, who suddenly finds herself attending a super fancy, exclusive school. So, in that drama, there's this fictional 'it' crowd, the F4, and in it, you've got F4, who are essentially the kings of this super-posh school. They're loaded and totally influential, and they pretty much run the place. The group itself is made up of Daoming Si, played by Jerry Yan; the more brooding Huaze Lei, brought to life by Vic Chou; the charming Meizuo, played by Vanness Wu; and the smooth Ximen, portrayed by Ken Chu. These four pretty much run the show at school! Nope, they actually kept performing together as a real-life boy band, sticking with the name F4. Even after officially going their separate ways in 2009, they gave fans a huge treat in 2013 by reuniting to perform their famous song 'Meteor Shower' at the Jiangsu TV Spring Festival Gala. Even after going their separate ways, the F4 guys have been pretty busy carving out their own paths! Making waves Vanness Wu has been making waves in the music scene, having released his first full-length English album in 2022 and appeared on various variety shows. Meanwhile, Vic Chou has continued his acting career, most recently starring in the highly anticipated drama The World Between Us 2 , which is set to hit screens this November. As for Ken Chu, he's taken a more modern approach, diving into live streaming to sell products online. And Jerry Yan? He's back on our screens, too, having returned to acting with the drama The Forbidden Flower in 2023. It sounds like she'd been on a trip to Japan with her family, and sadly, she contracted influenza, which developed into pneumonia, and she passed away from that. According to Mirror Media, the music firm B'in Music has been preparing to bring together former well-known boy bands one by one, with F4 at the top of their list. Reuniting back together Getting the F4 guys back together after all this time was apparently a real headache! For starters, they were all signed to different management companies, which, as you can imagine, makes coordinating anything a nightmare. Additionally, there were even whispers back then that their personalities didn't quite mesh, which may have contributed to their split in the first place. However, here's where it gets interesting: It seems like the recent comeback of another Taiwanese boy band, Energy (who broke up 15 years ago but reunited in 2024 under B'in Music), really lit a fire under F4. According to Mirror Media, seeing Energy's successful return might have been the big push F4 needed to decide, 'Hey, let's do this finally! Let's get back on stage together and celebrate 25 years since we first started!' It's like seeing their peers do it gave them the courage to overcome their own hurdles. Vic Chou would love to reunite with F4 members
6 Jun - Amid rumours that F4 is set to reunite for their 25th anniversary next year, Vic Chou recently admitted that he doesn't have any information about the event. As reported on Mingpao, the singer-actor, who was a part of the group that first debuted through the hit 1999 drama, "Meteor Garden", said that while he has no idea about such a reunion, he hopes that it would be possible. "Every year, I would hear about such opportunity and every year people would approach us. So, I do hope it will work this time," he said. Asked if such a reunion will be a possibility next year, Vic said, "I don't know. I think maybe I have my own expectations for F4. If you just want to make money, then don't look for me specifically. I hope there is some proper planning." As to why the reunion never happened despite them being approached to do so every year, the actor said that the four of them are being managed by different agencies. "I would get asked about reuniting and I would always say that it would be great. But then they will tell me that they will come back to me when there is an idea, but in the end nothing happened. It's like this every year and there is no correct answer to the question," he said. Vic Chou, Jerry Yan, Ken Zhu and Vanness Wu became an idol group F4 following the success of "Meteor Garden", which also co-starred the late Barbie Hsu. Popular Taiwanese drama Meteor Garden's boy group F4 is reportedly set to reunite and perform in 2026 for the first time since 2013, according to an exclusive report from Taiwan media outlet Mirror Media. Launched in 2001, Meteor Garden is a romance drama that follows a poor teenage girl, Shancai, played by the late Barbie Hsu, who goes to a wealthy school. F4 is a fictional boy group in that drama made up of wealthy, influential students that dominate the school: Daoming Si, Huaze Lei, Meizuo and Ximen portrayed by actors Jerry Yan, Vic Chou, Vanness Wu and Ken Chu, respectively. Following the show's massive success in Asia, the four actors carried on the name F4 and debuted as a real-life boy band. They officially disbanded in 2009 but reunited once in 2013 to perform their hit song Meteor Shower at the Jiangsu TV Spring Festival Gala. After disbanding, the members pursued individual careers: Jerry Yan returned to acting and starred in the drama The Forbidden Flower (2023); Vic Chou recently appeared in the drama The World Between Us 2 set to premiere in November; Vanness Wu released his first full-length English album in 2022 and took part in several variety shows; while Ken Chu turned to live streaming for online sales. The lead actress of Meteor Garden, Barbie Hsu died in February this year at the age of 48 from pneumonia after contracting influenza during a trip to Japan with her family. Mirror Media reported that music label B'in Music had been planning to reunite disbanded popular boy bands one by one and F4 was first on their list. However, the members all belonged to different management companies, making their reunion challenging. It was also said that the four had differences in their personalities that led to them parting ways.

If Taiwanese pop group Energy could reunite and make their comeback after over a decade of hiatus, does that mean there's hope for the disbanded F4 too? Yesterday (June 4), Taiwan's Mirror Media reported that the Mandopop group — made up of Vic Chou, Jerry Yan, Ken Chu and Van Ness Wu — reached an agreement to reunite for a 2026 concert, celebrating the 25th anniversary of their debut. At the premiere of his Taiwanese drama The World Between Us: After The Flames 2 yesterday, Vic addressed the news. The actor, who turns 44 on June 9, shared that he receives invitations for a reunion every year but it ultimately falls through each time. He explained it's mainly because he wants the reunion to be more than a money-making venture. When he asked the other parties what plans they had, he never received a response. He admitted to reporters yesterday that he does not know whether F4 will reunite this time. When the media wondered what his fellow group mates thought, Vic joked: "Go ask them, why ask me?" He added: "I don't feel much pressure when I'm on F4 activities. I'm the youngest in the group and I just need to be crazy and funny." F4 rose to fame after the four acted in Taiwanese idol drama Meteor Garden (2001) and they released three albums together.
