Onslow Memorial Hospital offering free health screenings with Easter egg hunt
JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — People in the Jacksonville area can get various health screenings free at Onslow Memorial Hospital. At the same time, the children can take part in an Easter Egg Hunt. It's all part of the hospital's Hop Into Health event. 'From 1 to 4, we will be doing the screenings in Onslow Outpatient Rehab and the egg hunt itself will be outside on the front lawn,' Public Relations and Marketing Manager for Onslow Memorial Hospital Victoria Morales said. 'We will have various community partners that will be coming through. They will have resources and goodies.' Screenings include tests for skin, colorectal and prostate cancer, STI screenings and nutritional education to provide the community with health resources. 'For us, it is important to make sure that health is accessible. So, bringing out these free screening opportunities to one central location, it is really important for us to get that out to the community and encourage people to come out and add an Easter egg hunt with that,' Morales said. Hospital officials said the screenings could help save lives. 'Come and do the screening and then enjoy the rest of the day with the kids and get some health information from our community resources,' Morales said. The first egg hunt will start at 2 p.m. for children 3 years old and younger with parent assistance and for the older children, the hunt will start at 2:45 p.m. Families should bring a basket for egg collecting and the eggs will have candy inside. Onslow Memorial partners with Daisy Foundation recognize nurses and support staff
ONSLOW COUNTY, N.C. (WNCT) — Onslow Memorial is recognizing its nurses and support staff in a new way. This is the first year they will be giving away Daisy and Petals Awards. The Daisy Foundation is a national nonprofit created to thank nurses for making a difference in patients' lives. New or old patients, family members and staff can nominate someone on the hospital's website. Daisy Awards are specifically for nurses while Petals are for other teammates that help with care. Winners will get a certificate, a daisy award pin and a healers touch sculpture. 'It's important to have this Daisy Award recognition program here because we do want to highlight our nurses. We want to make sure that they know that we see them in our patients, see them because they do so much for our patients, they do so much for our organization,' said Victoria Morales, PR and Marketing Manager for Onslow Memorial. This is something they will now be doing quarterly and they will choose winners in April. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
