People who know Mohammadnawaz have always been aware of his academic brilliance. While his family encouraged him to pursue his dreams, his tutors decided to forego even their coaching fees to push him towards excellence.
Having seen his father, Akram Pathan, drive an autorickshaw, earning barely Rs 200 every day on average, Mohammadnawaz wants to improve the lives of his family members, as they have always backed him despite financial constraints.
He wants to become an engineer.
His sister, who is pursuing a bachelor's degree in computer science, is his rock. "My sister is my motivator. She helped me keep track of my studies, and it is only because of my sister and mother that I could consistently pursue academics. I expect to be in the 99th percentile in the common entrance test (CET) and pursue engineering in a govt engineering college," said Mohammadnawaz.
Mohammadnawaz, who is a student of Vidyamandir High School and Junior College, got a big boost from his tutors.
"I joined
private coaching
classes for three subjects. N B Patil, my chemistry teacher, waived my fees for Classes XI and XII, and the teachers of the other two subjects (mathematics and physics) waived 50% of the coaching fees," said Mohammadnawaz.
