Holyoke holds flag raising ceremony to commemorate Vietnam War Veterans Day
HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – The City of Holyoke raised a flag on Friday in observance of Vietnam War Veteran's Day.
Vietnam War Veteran's Day is observed on March 29th and pays tribute to the Vietnam veterans for their service.
A presidential proclamation was signed by President Barack Obama in 2012 to observe this day annually. March 29, 1973, marked the 50th anniversary of the departure of the last American troops from Vietnam. Ahead of this day, the Vietnam War flag was raised at Holyoke City Hall and pins were presented to Vietnam veterans, their spouses, and families.
