ANI 24 Jun 2025, 00:24 GMT+10 Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], June 23 (ANI): Uttarakhand Home Secretary Shailesh Bagauli on Monday reviewed the Vigilance Establishment and directed the officials to take immediate action on the complaints of the general public. The meeting was conducted in his office auditorium in Dehradun. During the meeting, Bagauli expressed concern over the long pending vigilance cases and said that the system should be improved to expedite the disposal of these cases. He directed to adopt innovative methods using modern technology and artificial intelligence tools to dispose of the cases quickly. The Home Secretary said that reminders should be sent to the concerned departments to dispose of the cases pending at the government level as well. If there is no progress in the cases within 2 months, it should be brought to the notice of the Home Secretary. Secretary Bagauli said that such complaints received from the website and 1064 toll free number which are not related to vigilance, should be sent to the concerned departments through 1905. He said that innovative methods should be adopted for effective disposal of cases related to vigilance. Bagauli said that a separate meeting will be held with the Director General of Police regarding the shortage of officers in the Vigilance Department. On this occasion, Director Vigilance Dr. V. Murugeshan and Superintendent of Police Vigilance Rachita Juyal, along with other senior officers, were present. (ANI)

Lucknow: The UP Vigilance Establishment on Saturday arrested an assistant treasury officer (accounts) while accepting a bribe of Rs 12,000. The accused -- Chandra Mala— was caught by the team following a complaint by a local resident Saurabh Srivastava. According to the complaint, Saurabh's grandfather, Harishchandra Srivastava, a retired police officer, passed away on May 10, 2024. Following his death, Saurabh's father, who is disabled and entirely dependent on the deceased, applied for family pension benefits. The application was processed by Chandra Mala, who demanded a bribe of Rs 12,000 to finalise the pension and approve a new Pt Deendayal Upadhyay Cashless Health Card for Saurabh's father. Chandra Mala threatened to cancel the pension application and future medical reimbursements if the bribe was not paid. Saurabh then approached the vigilance department, which conducted a discreet investigation confirming the allegations. The team then laid a trap and arrested Chandra Mala. A case was registered against her under appropriate sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act at Vigilance Establishment police station in Lucknow. Authorities reiterated the Vigilance Establishment's dedication to eliminating corruption from public service and advised public to report any demands for bribes by govt officials to the anti-corruption helpline: 9454401866.

Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], May 14 (ANI): Another major success has been achieved under the strict campaign being run by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami against corruption in Uttarakhand. The team of the Vigilance Establishment on Wednesday arrested the ISBT outpost in-charge Sub Inspector Devendra Khugshal of Patel Nagar police station area in Dehradun red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs 1 lakh. The complainant informed that the investigation of a land dispute with the outpost in charge, in which he demanded a bribe of Rs 5 lakh by threatening to apply the Gangster Act, is pending. After a secret investigation, the Vigilance Establishment promptly laid a trap and arrested the accused. In the last three years, the Dhami goverment has sent over 150 accused to jail in corruption cases. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also praised this action and said that the state government is firm on resolving corruption-free Uttarakhand. Strict action will be taken against any officer or employee who exploits the public. Providing justice to the public is our priority. Last week, the Dhami government's strong attack on corruption continued as instructed to take immediate, strict action with intensive investigation on the complaint of corruption, as the personnel involved in corruption are being arrested by the Vigilance and sent behind bars. 'In this sequence, vigilance took a big action in Nainital district and arrested the Chief Treasurer, Nainital and Accountant Treasury, Nainital red-handed while taking a bribe of one lakh twenty thousand rupees,' the release said. It said that, under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the Uttarakhand government has taken historic decisions and concrete action in the last three years by implementing the policy of 'Zero Tolerance on Corruption.' The release said that more than 150 accused officers, employees, and mafias have been arrested and sent to jail so far as part of the ongoing campaign against corruption and copymafia in the state. Under the anti-cheating law made to bring transparency in the education sector in Uttarakhand, many organised gangs and brokers have been arrested and sent to judicial custody. Strict action was taken against more than 80 cheating mafias. As a result, in the last three years, about 23 thousand youth have been given government jobs with complete transparency. After the implementation of the anti-cheating law, not a single complaint of cheating was received,' the release said. Earlier in the day, Dhami chaired the Migration Prevention Commission review meeting at the Secretariat. The Chief Minister said a suitable platform would be provided to share the experiences of people who have done reverse migration in the state. Its objective is that other people should be inspired by these successes and take steps towards self-employment. He also directed the state to ensure the adequate availability of medicines, surgical equipment, and other necessary medical resources in all hospitals. (ANI)

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Vigilance Establishment on Wednesday arrested Mahesh Singh , assistant consolidation officer at Faridpur Tehsil, Bareilly , red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 10, to officials, the accused officer allegedly demanded a total bribe of Rs 20,000 from a complainant to consolidate several land plots (Gata numbers) under Plot No. 31 of the complainant's village into a single holding. After repeated requests from the complainant, Mahesh Singh agreed to accept the bribe in two instalments of Rs 10,000 complainant lodged a formal written complaint with the Superintendent of Police, Vigilance Establishment, Bareilly Sector, following which a verification was conducted. Upon confirmation of the bribery demand, a trap was laid by the vigilance May 14, Mahesh Singh was caught red-handed while accepting the second instalment of Rs 10,000 in cash at his office in Faridpur Tehsil, Bareilly.
