Vigo County Commissioners give update on New Goshen storm damage
NEW GOSHEN, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— Vigo County Commissioners weigh in on the damage done to New Goshen after Wednesday night's storms.
According to a Facebook post by Vigo County Commissioner Mark Clinkenbeard, the commissioners accompanied the Vigo County Emergency Management and National Weather Service to New Goshen Thursday morning. The post states that commissioners were told the damage was likely caused by an EF-1 tornado. Commissioners also stated that Duke Energy is out fixing power lines and clearing downed lines from roads.
The post went on to say that they are working with Republic Services to have dumpsters placed throughout New Goshen on Friday morning for smaller debris. The highway department will also be on-site Friday, assisting in loading. Commissioners urged owners of homes that have been majorly damaged to contact their insurance companies for major cleanups. Homeowners are being told to place storm debris along the road so that highway equipment can be used for pickup.
According to new information from the National Weather Service, we have exact numbers on the tornado that hit New Goshen Wednesday night. The full details are below.
