Phoenix police will enforce curfew on First Friday after 'increase in violent crime'

'Nothing stays the same': How First Fridays traded art for spectacle in Phoenix Children under 16 not accompanied by a parent, guardian or adult after 10 p.m. and those between 16 and 17 unaccompanied and out after midnight will be arrested and cited. Phoenix police said they will have an increased presence at First Friday and that they hope to inform people of the curfew before they violate it. "It is our intention to educate first," said Vince Lewis, a Phoenix police spokesperson. The city-wide curfew is part of the Phoenix city municipal code. The enforcement, however, seems to be new in response to violence during First Friday. Phoenix police did not respond to a request for comment by the time of publication.
