Vineland murder trial: Deshaun Bowen, Rohdane Watson hear verdicts in teen slaying

A Cumberland County jury has convicted two men of killing a 15-year-old Little Leaguer in May 2022. Deshawn Bowen, 25, of Bridgeton and Rohdane Watson, 20, of Vineland were charged with the slaying of Anthony Torres-Sanchez, a freshman at Vineland High School. They took cash and a gun from the teen during a robbery at the Redwood Courts trailer park along Delsea Drive in Vineland, the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office said. Brothel bust: Prosecutor accuse Bridgeton man of sex trafficking In the wake of the shooting, members of the South Vineland Little League held a candlelight vigil to honor Sanchez-Torrres. Teammates hugged the victim's weeping mother during the ballfield vigil, then released balloons with messages at sunset. "We love you," they shouted. A trial for Bowen and Watson began with jury selection Jan. 7. It ended Feb. 12 when jurors convicted the men of felony murder, aggravated manslaughter and robbery. Bowen also was found guilty of a weapons offense. Superior Court Judge Joseph Chiarello scheduled sentencing for April 4 in his Bridgeton courtroom.
