Jordan Scott cements his legacy at South Lakes with another state title
RICHMOND — When South Lakes returned to VCU's Siegel Center with a chance to repeat as state champions Saturday, it didn't bring back many players who received meaningful minutes in last year's Virginia Class 6 final. A Seahawks team flush with talent and depth finally won its first state title last year and accomplished something previous South Lakes teams, even those led by Hall of Famer Grant Hill, could not. Despite losing 11 players to graduation or transfer, the Reston program brought back Michigan State signee Jordan Scott, an emerging forward in Merrick Rillstone and a tight-knit group looking to reach the summit again.

Led by a balanced group of juniors, Westfield boys book a ticket to states
With a spot in the Virginia Class 6 tournament on the line, Thursday's regional semifinal against Yorktown provided Westfield another opportunity to show how much it has grown this winter. The Bulldogs entered the season as one of Northern Virginia's most talented boys' basketball teams, but a seven-man rotation made up entirely of juniors and freshmen needed time to develop. They fell to the Patriots in December — just one tough matchup in a daunting early-season schedule that included No. 1 Paul VI and Richmond powerhouse John Marshall.
