Teen charged with robbery at Collinsville store, sheriff said

HENRY COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – The Henry County Sheriff's Office said a 16-year-old is in custody after allegedly robbing a local store in Collinsville on May 28. According to the sheriff, a call was received around 1:50 p.m. on Wednesday regarding a robbery at the Infinity Tobacco and Vape Store located at 2419 Virginia Avenue. The report stated that a man allegedly entered the store with one hand in his pocket, leading the employee to believe he was armed with a weapon. The suspect allegedly demanded an undisclosed amount of money and then fled the scene on foot, the sheriff said. While en route to the scene, deputies witnessed a man matching the description of the suspect behind the store and took him into custody without incident. Money believed to have been stolen during the robbery was allegedly recovered during the arrest. Two arrested in connection to Vinton robbery The suspect, a 16-year-old teenager will not be identified by name at this time. The teenager has been charged with the following: Robbery (Violation of Virginia Code Section: 18.2-58) Concealment of identity (Violation of Virginia Code Section: 18.2-422) The juvenile was taken to the W.W. Moore Juvenile Detention Facility in Danville and will be held until court proceedings. The investigation is ongoing. HENRY COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – The Henry County Sheriff has announced the arrest of a man on March 22 in connection to an ongoing child porn investigation in Collinsville. The sheriff said a search warrant was executed at an apartment at Terry Court on Saturday in connection to an active child pornography investigation after receiving a cyber tip from the Southern Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children (SOVA ICAC) Task Force. The tip identified 18-year-old Jabari Ross, as a suspect, and during the search electronic devices were seized. An examination of the devices allegedly revealed multiple explicit images of prepubescent children in a sexually suggested state. Botetourt County Deputies search for shooting suspect Ross was then arrested and charged with the following: 12 Counts of Possess Obscene Material Using Minors (Violation of Virginia Code Section: 18.2-374.1) The sheriff said the investigation is ongoing and additional charges are pending further potential evidence being examined on other electric devices seized during the search. 'The Henry County Sheriff's Office remains committed to protecting children from exploitation and holding offenders accountable. 62-year-old woman accused of stabbing man in Henry County, according to sheriff

HENRY COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – The Henry County Sheriff has announced the arrest of a 62-year-old woman in connection to a stabbing at an apartment in Martinsville on February 23. According to the sheriff, around 7:40 p.m. on Sunday, deputies arrived at an apartment at Grandview Road after reports of a stabbing. On the scene, officers found the apartment's resident, 62-year-old June Yvonne Mitchell of Martinsville. While inside the apartment, deputies allegedly observed blood and several bladed weapons. Shortly after, a man arrived at the emergency room at SOVAH Martinsville with a stab wound to the abdomen. North Carolina man charged after shootout with Danville Police Officer on Riverside Drive The man said that he was allegedly stabbed during an argument with Mitchell inside the apartment. Deputies detained Mitchell at the scene. She was then taken to the sheriff's office for questioning. After obtaining a warrant, a search was executed at the apartment, during which additional evidence related to the incident was allegedly collected, the sheriff said. Investigators believe an argument between Mitchell and the man escalated when Mitchell allegedly took out a knife and stabbed the man. June Yvonne Mitchell has been arrested and charged with the following: Malicious Wounding (Virginia Code Section: 18.2-51.2) Mitchell is currently being held at the Henry County Adult Detention Center without bond. HENRY COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – The Henry County Sheriff's Office reports an arrest connected to a bomb threat investigation after an incident at a local business in Henry County on February 7. The sheriff said deputies responded to the Dollar General on Greensboro Road around 8 p.m. on Sunday after an alleged bomb threat. On the scene, law enforcement secured the area and conducted a search with the assistance of an explosive K-9 unit. No devices or threats were found, and the situation was cleared. The store has returned to normal operations and there is no threat, according to the sheriff. 15-year-old student arrested for allegedly leaving bomb threat note at Heritage High School During the investigation, 52-year-old Roger Amos Jr. was identified as allegedly being connected to the threat. Amos was found on Rives Road near the store and taken into custody without incident, the sheriff said. Roger Amos Jr. has been charged with the following: Threats to bomb (Violation of Virginia Code Section: 18.2-83) He is currently being held at the Henry County Adult Detention Center on a $4,500.00 secured bond. In addition to the incident on Sunday, there was a separate bomb threat reported at the same location around 7:30 p.m. on Friday, February 7. It is not clear if the two incidents are connected. 'The Henry County Sheriff's Office takes all threats seriously and remains committed to ensuring public safety.' The Henry County Sheriff's Office said the investigation.
