Virginia Living Museum announces death of North American River Otter
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY)– The Virginia Living Museum announced Thursday that Moe, a 20-year-old North American River Otter, has passed away.
In a Facebook post, the museum stated that Moe was one of the oldest river otters on record. Animal care experts carefully assessed Moe and made the decision to help him transition as age-related conditions began affecting his quality of life. Experts performed a post-mortem examination which revealed that cancer had extensively spread throughout his body.
Moe was brought to the museum in 2005 at just six-months old. Throughout the years, Moe delighted visitors with his playful spirit and gentle soul.
