Family thwarts burglary attempts by confronting masked intruders

Haveri: Five masked individuals attempted to forcibly enter a house on Chhatra Road in Byadagi. The residents demonstrated exceptional bravery in fighting them, and repelling the attempted burglary. The house belongs to the family of Virupakshappa Chinnikatti, who established a professional courier franchise in the town. The perpetrators gained access to the property in Shettar Layout along Chhatra Road by forcing their way through both the compound gate and main entrance. Virupakshappa recounted that after they went to sleep on June 11, five masked men entered their premises at 2.50am. Upon discovering the break-in, his wife and daughter, who were sharing a room, sounded an alarm and confronted the intruders by throwing objects at them. The intruders damaged the compound gate before attempting to break the main door. Virupaksha's wife and daughter called for assistance and tried to prevent the door breach. "After the three of us launched a fight against them and we shouted," he stated. Chinnikatti explained that when one intruder tried to grab his wife's mangalsutra, she kicked him to defend herself. The family resisted the intruders for about three minutes. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với sàn môi giới tin cậy IC Markets Tìm hiểu thêm Undo The intruders climbed over the compound wall and escaped, before the neighbours could arrive. "We were able to succesfully prevent them from robbing anything at home," Virupakshappa shared. This incident followed multiple burglaries several months ago, which led residents to establish community watch groups. Although local authorities solved those previous cases, this recent attempt has sparked fresh security worries in the town. Law enforcement officials brought in a dog squad and forensic specialists to examine the crime scene. "All precautionary measures have been taken to prevent thefts in the surrounding areas. However, a new group of thieves has entered the town. They are likely locals with no connections to out-of-district or out-of-state criminals. We will solve the case soon," stated CPI Mahantesh Lambi. Follow more information on Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad here .
