Vision Karnataka exhibition showcases Centre's achievements in 11 years

BJP MP Jagadish Shettar inaugurated Vision Karnataka-2025, an exhibition showcasing the achievements of the 11-year-rule of the Narendra Modi-led NDA government at the Centre in Belagavi on Wednesday. Mr. Shettar said that the country has made great strides in various areas to emerge as a world leader. 'Before the BJP-led NDA government came to power at the Centre, there were 34 crore extremely poor people in the country. But now, that number has come down to 7.5 crore. India, which was ranked 12th or 13th in the world economy, has now risen to be in the fourth place. In a few years, it will become the third largest economy in the world. All this shows the targeted hard work by various departments. This is among the achievements of ambitious schemes formulated by the Centre under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,' Mr. Shettar said. He said that he has appealed to the Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to start defence-related industries in North Karnataka. There is a lot of land belonging to the Defence Ministry in Belagavi. 'I urge the Defence Minister to formulate a plan for setting up industries to manufacture defence-related products in such unused land,' he said. Mr. Shettar opposed the move by the State government of not allowing PM Jan Aushadhi Kendra medical shops selling unbranded medicine on the premises of government hospitals. He said that it showed the non-cooperation of the Congress government in implementing Central schemes. Representatives from over 50 Union Ministries and public sector undertakings are participating in the three-day exhibition under way at the Centenary Convention Hall in KLE Society's Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College. The event is being organised by Prayas Exhibitions and Promotions. Students from various schools and colleges, researchers and the general public enthusiastically visited the exhibition. Models displayed by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Indian Agricultural Research Institute and other organisations attracted students. Officers were seen informing them about the implementation of various schemes of the Union government, the financial options available through banks to avail of them and the entrepreneurial opportunities. The former Rajya Sabha member Prabhakar Kore said that it is a matter of pride that the exhibition is being organised in Belagavi. MLAs Abhaya Patil and Arvind Bellad, Deputy Mayor Vani Joshi, the former MP Mangala Angadi, the former MLAs Vishwanath Patil and Sanjay Patil and leaders like M.L. Muttennavar, Subhash Patil Geeta Sutara and others were present. Sunita Desai anchored the event.
