Kickoff times, TV announced for two Tennessee football games in September 2025 will mark the fifth football season for Tennessee under head coach Josh Heupel. The Vols will kick off their upcoming campaign on Aug. 30 against Syracuse at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. Tennessee's season opener is slated for noon EDT and will be televised by ABC. Two additional kick off times were announced Thursday for the Vols in 2025. Tennessee's home opener against East Tennessee State on Sept. 6 is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. EDT and can be watched on SEC Network+. Tennessee's SEC opener against Georgia on Sept. 13 at Neyland Stadium will also kick off at 3:30 p.m. EDT. ABC will televise the matchup. The Tennessee-Georgia contest will feature Checker Neyland presented by Pilot and the National Football Foundation Hall of Fame Salute for former Vol John Henderson. Two former Vols win first-round matches in 2025 French Open Two former Tennessee men's tennis players earned victories Tuesday at the French Open in Paris, France. Adam Walton defeated Maximilian Marterer, 7-6 (3), 4-6, 6-3, 2-6, 6-2, in the second round of singles play, while former Vol Mark Wallner teamed with Jakob Schnaitter to defeat Bart Stevens and Tallon Griekspoor in three sets, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3, in the opening round of doubles competition. Walton played for the Vols from 2017-22 under head coach Chris Woodruff, compiling a 124-25 singles and 101-47 doubles record. He was an All-SEC standout and earned All-America honors in both singles and doubles competition. In 2022, Walton combined with Pat Harper to win a national doubles championship. He has a professional singles record of 7-19 and 1-2 in doubles competition. The former Vol ranks No. 88 in singles and No. 183 in doubles for ITA world rankings. A Temple transfer, Wallner played at Tennessee from 2019-22. While playing for the Vols, he posted a 28-14 singles record and went 58-24 in doubles. Former Vol returning to Tennessee for 2025 Knoxville Regional No. 14 national seed Tennessee (43-16) will host a Knoxville Regional in the 2025 NCAA Tournament at Lindsey Nelson Stadium. The double-elimination regional will be contested Friday-Sunday. The Vols will open play Friday against Miami University (35-21) at 6 p.m. EDT. Friday's other game will feature No. 2 seed Wake Forest (36-20) versus No. 3 seed Cincinnati (32-24). First pitch slated for 1 p.m. EDT. The Knoxville Regional will mark a return to Lindsey Nelson Stadium for former Tennessee pitcher Matthew Dallas, who now plays for Wake Forest. Dallas (1-0) appeared in 15 games, including two starts, for the Vols in 2024 as a freshman. He recorded 22 strikeouts and 4.76 ERA in 17.0 innings. Dallas allowed 11 hits, nine runs, 10 walks and two home runs. In 2025, Dallas (4-1) has recorded a 5.09 ERA. He has allowed 38 runs (30 earned), 52 hits, 28 walks and four home runs in 53 innings pitched. The former Vol has recorded 59 strikeouts. Liam Doyle named 2025 SEC Pitcher of the Year
Liam Doyle named 2025 SEC Pitcher of the Year Tennessee junior left-handed pitcher Liam Doyle was named 2025 SEC Pitcher of the Year. He was also a First-Team All-SEC selection, along with teammates Andrew Fischer and Gavin Kilen. Hunter Ensley earned Second-Team All-SEC honors and was selected to the SEC All-Defensive Team for Tennessee. Doyle is the third Vol to earn SEC Pitcher of the Year honors, joining Luke Hochevar (2005) and Chase Dollander (2022). Doyle transferred from Ole Miss and became the Vols' starting pitcher for two combined no-hitters. He was named the SEC Pitcher of the Week three times. Doyle is the nation's leader in strikeouts (137), ranking third all time for a single season in program history. He needs 18 strikeouts to eclipse Hochevar's single-season record of 154, set in 2005. During the 2025 regular season, he led the conference in home runs (22), slugging percentage (.779), on-base percentage (.501), on-base plus slugging percentage (1.281) and walks (56). Fischer has reached base for the Vols in all 56 games and has recorded 141 total bases. He totaled 67 runs and a .337 batting average in the 2025 regular season. Kilen, a Louisville transfer, received first-team honors. He missed three weeks due to injury. Kilen has totaled 14 home runs and 119 total bases. His .365 batting average ranks ninth in the SEC, while his .692 slugging percentage is third in the league. Kilen is tied for fourth in the SEC with three triples. Ensley, the Vols' only senior, earned second-team all conference honors. He was also selected to the SEC All-Defensive Team. The center fielder has recoded career highs in batting average (.350), hits (72), doubles (16), RBIs (60), slugging percentage (.573) and on-base percentage (.423). Chase Dollander by the numbers in third MLB start for Rockies
Former Vol Chase Dollander made his third career MLB start for Colorado on Saturday. The Nationals defeated Colorado, 12-11, at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado. Dollander (1-2) pitched four innings and recorded five strikeouts. He allowed nine hits, nine runs (six earned), two walks and four home runs. Dollander totaled 78 pitches, including 51 strikes, against 24 batters. Advertisement The former Vol totaled 12 first-pitch strikes. 12 of Dollander's 51 strikes were called strikes, while nine were swinging, 13 were foul balls and 17 were in-play strikes. Dollander was selected by Colorado in the first round of the 2023 Major League Baseball draft (No. 9 overall). He played for the Vols from 2022-23 after transferring from Georgia Southern. Dollander (17-6) appeared in 33 games, including 31 starts, at Tennessee. He recorded 228 strikeouts, one complete game and a .364 ERA in 168 innings pitched during his Tennessee career. The former Vol earned 2022 Southeastern Conference Pitcher of the Year and All-America honors. Tennessee won the Southeastern Conference regular-season and tournament championships in 2022, while advancing to the 2023 College World Series.
