Brawling Aussie blokes halt traffic on busy road
A fiery bust-up between two drivers has brought a busy Gold Coast intersection to a screeching halt — and it's all been caught on camera by horrified onlookers.
Footage posted to social media on Saturday shows the moment a roadside showdown exploded on Currumburra Road in Ashmore, when tensions boiled over between the driver of a white Holden Commodore and a man behind the wheel of a silver Volkswagen ute.
In the now-viral video, the Commodore driver can be heard screaming 'Come on!' as he lunges into the open window of the VW, landing a punch. Not satisfied, he delivers another blow while egging the other man to step out of the vehicle — all as stunned drivers watch on during a green light.
Instead of getting out, the Volkswagen driver takes matters into his own hands by performing an illegal U-turn, mounting a median strip and pulling up aggressively in front of the Commodore's bonnet.
The Holden driver can then be seen jumping back into his car and swerving around the 4X4, before speeding off with the VW in hot pursuit.
The showdown has clocked up over two million views on Facebook, sparking widespread debate about road rage and driver behaviour.
'They're acting like toddlers throwing tantrums,' remarked one viewer.
'Wow, people are getting crazy on the roads now,' said another.
A spokesperson for Queensland Police Service told Courier Mail that police were aware of the video, but no formal complaint had been made.
