Preliminary round of the Volleyball League wraps up
KUWAIT CITY, March 26: The preliminary round of the Volleyball League wraps up today with a key match between Kazma and Qadsia at 9:00 pm at the Kuwait Volleyball Association's Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Halls Complex in Sabah Al-Salem. In a previous match, Al-Arabi triumphed over Al-Nasr with a dominant 3-0 victory (25-17, 25-8, 25-16). Kuwait Club leads the standings with 28 points, followed by Kazma and Al-Shabab (24), Qadsia (22), Al-Arabi (18), Burgan (16), Al-Nasr (11), Sulaibikhat (9), Yarmouk (5), Al-Tadamon (3), and Al-Sahel (2). The top six teams—Kuwait Club, Kazma, Al-Shabab, Qadsia, Al-Arabi, and Burgan—have secured their spots in the Premier League, which will commence on April 13. The league will be contested on a home-and-away basis, followed by a "golden square" featuring the top four teams, with the first facing the fourth and the second facing the third. Meanwhile, Al-Nasr, Al-Sulaibikhat, Al-Yarmouk, Al-Tadamon, and Al-Sahel will compete in the first division across three stages.

Volleyball Super Cup to kick off in April
KUWAIT CITY, March 20: The Kuwait Volleyball Association has scheduled the Super Cup semifinals for the 2024-2025 seasons. The matches will take place on April 7, featuring Kuwait Club vs. Kazma and Qadsia vs. Al-Arabi, with the final set for April 10. The Volleyball Super Cup has been held nine times before this season. Qadsia claimed the inaugural title in 2014-2015, followed by Kazma in 2015-2016. Kuwait SC dominated the tournament for five consecutive editions from 2016-2017 to 2021-2022, with no tournament held in 2018-2019. Kazma lifted the trophy in 2022-2023, while Kuwait SC reclaimed the title last season (2023-2024). Additionally, the Kuwait Volleyball Federation has announced that the Federation Cup Championship draw—covering all age groups and the general category—will be held on Sunday at 9:00 PM in the conference hall at the Federation's headquarters. In the latest Volleyball League action, Burgan secured a dominant straight-set victory over Yarmouk (25-17, 25-14, 25-16). The current league standings are: Kuwait Club– 23 points, Kazma – 21 points, Al-Shabab – 21 points, Qadsia – 18 points, Burgan – 16 points, Al-Arabi – 12 points, Al-Nasr – 11 points, Al-Sulaibikhat – 9 points, Yarmouk – 5 points Al-Tadamon – 3 points. The volleyball season continues to deliver thrilling action, with key matchups ahead in both the Super Cup and General League.

Kuwait Club secures victory over Kazma to claim league lead
KUWAIT CITY, March 18: Kuwait Club's first volleyball team achieved a major milestone, securing a crucial 3-1 victory (25-20, 25-18, 19-25, 25-21) over league leaders Kazma in the 24th round of the Volleyball League. The match took place at the Volleyball Association Hall in Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Complex. With this win, Kuwait Club not only toppled Kazma but also climbed to the top of the standings, overtaking the "Orange Team" in the title race. Seeb and Majees shine in OVL qualifiers
MUSCAT: Seeb and Majees clubs secured important victories in the second stage of the final qualifiers for the Oman Volleyball League. At the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher, Seeb dominated Masirah with a straight-set victory (3-0). The first set started with a balanced exchange between both teams, as Masirah attempted to keep up with Seeb's pace in the early points. However, Seeb soon imposed its dominance with powerful attacks and well-organised defence, securing the set 25-17. In the second set, Masirah raised its level of play and delivered a more competitive performance, benefiting from improved first-ball reception and a varied offensive strategy. Despite this, Seeb's experience proved decisive in the crucial moments, allowing them to turn the set in their favour with a 25-22 win. The third set saw Seeb take control from the start, capitalising on Masirah's defensive lapses. This gave them a clear advantage, leading to an easy 25-16 win and a straight-set victory. In a thrilling five-set encounter at Al Amal Club Hall in Bausher, Majees overcame Al Bashayer with a hard-fought 3-2 victory. The opening set was highly competitive, with both teams exchanging points until the final moments, where Majees narrowly secured a 27-25 win. However, Al Bashayer quickly responded in the second set, levelling the match with a 26-24 victory in a set that featured intense performances from both sides. Seeb and Majees shine in OVL qualifiers Majees regained control in the third set, capitalising on strong attacking plays and solid defensive positioning to claim the set 25-21. However, Al Bashayer bounced back strongly in the fourth set, taking advantage of defensive errors from Majees to win 25-20 and force a decisive fifth set. In the tiebreaker, Majees asserted its dominance from the outset, quickly pulling ahead and widening the gap as Al Bashayer's performance declined. This allowed Majees to seal the set 15-8, earning a crucial victory in their first match of the second stage of the final qualifiers. Majees is now preparing for a tough match against Seeb on Wednesday at Sohar Sports Complex, while Al Salam will face Masirah on Friday at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher as part of the second stage of the final qualifiers for the Volleyball League. At the end of the first stage's fourth round, Seeb topped the standings with 10 points, followed by Majees in second place with 8 points. Al Salam ranked third with 6 points, tied with Al Bashayer, while Masirah remained at the bottom with no points.

This win not only toppled one of the league's strongest contenders but also propelled Al-Abyad to second place, displacing Sons of Ahmadi from the runner-up position.
