Adults only: McDonald's posts 21+ sign on door
FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (WFLA) — If you're looking to get a Big Mac or some salty fries from a McDonald's in Fairfax County, Virginia, you'd better bring your ID. According to NBC affiliate WRC, one McDonald's location is only allowing customers over the age of 21 inside. They must ring a doorbell to be let inside. Located just outside of Washington, D.C., students were fighting, cursing and standing on the restaurant tables, management said. Now, a sign is posted on the fast food chain's front door, reading, 'Due to repeated incidents of student violence, the location is temporarily closed for dine-in service to anyone under 21 years of age.' 'This decision was made to protect our staff, our guests, and our community,' the sign said at the bottom. One Fairfax County customer said she is OK with the rule, as she has experienced a group of young people inside this restaurant disturbing other customers dining inside. They were 'off the chain,' she added. In a statement to McDonald's said: We love being part of the Edison community and we value each and every customer,' the statement reads. 'We've enhanced our Franconia Road McDonald's security measures in an effort to promote a safe environment for our customers and staff. This policy was developed in partnership with local school officials with oversight from local law enforcement. This serves as a temporary fix as we work towards a long-term solution for all. We thank our community for its support, understanding and patience. WRC reported that the policy is only in effect Monday through Friday. Kids under 21 are only to be accompanied by adult chaperones. Ron DeSantis spoke in Tallahassee on Tuesday morning alongside First Lady Casey DeSantis to announce that Hope Florida has a liaison station in every sheriff's office in all 67 counties. Hope Florida serves as a connection point to carve a pathway for Floridians to get them on the right path, achieving 'prosperity and economic self-sufficiency.' Each county will have a Hope Navigator, a point of contact, for individuals in need. Gov. DeSantis proposes $1K rebate checks to cover Florida homeowners' property tax First Lady Casey DeSantis spearheaded Hope Florida, driving the initiative to help struggling parents and their children, and to offer them opportunity.
