Sharps Technology Begins Shipments Across Three Customer Orders Under Previously Announced Purchase Agreements

Shipments include initial deliveries of SecureGard™ and SoloGard™ smart safety syringes from its Hungary-based manufacturing facility Deliveries mark the Company's transition to a commercial-stage, revenue-generating company NEW YORK, June 04, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Sharps Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq: 'STSS' and 'STSSW') ('Sharps'), an innovative medical device and pharmaceutical packaging company offering patented, best-in-class smart-safety syringe products to the healthcare industry, today announced the initiation of shipments for previously announced purchase orders across three customer orders. These shipments mark the Company's first deliveries of its SecureGard™ and SoloGard™ product lines and its transition to generating commercial revenue. Sharps has initiated shipment of its first commercial order of Sologard under a previously announced $50 million supply agreement with a U.S.-based leader in IV flushing solutions. The delivery includes customized 10mL SoloGard smart safety syringes manufactured at the Company's upgraded facility in Hungary. SoloGard is a specialized, FDA- and WHO-approved smart safety syringe featuring ultra-low waste design, standard luer lock compatibility, and re-use prevention technology. This inaugural $400,000 purchase order marks the beginning of a five-year contract to supply up to 500 million syringes and represents the first revenue-generating shipment under the strategic supply agreement. The manufacturing of SoloGard is supported by advanced molding and automation technologies recently invested in by the Company, enabling Sharps to meet the anticipated increase in demand under the agreement during the second half of 2025. In a separate shipment, Sharps delivered SecureGard smart safety syringes to a Hungarian vaccine provider following a $100,000 purchase order. SecureGard is an FDA- and WHO-approved, CE Mark-certified specialized safety syringe featuring an integrated active recessed safety system, ultra-low waste design, and re-use prevention technology. This marks the customer's first commercial order and reflects growing global demand for Sharps' safety syringe technologies. Combined with the SoloGard order, total purchase commitments reached approximately $500,000, establishing Sharps as a revenue-producing company and supporting its transition to commercial operations. Additionally, Sharps has commenced shipment of 200,000 units of 1mL low dead space syringes to a Swiss-based global provider of cosmetic, dental, and ophthalmic injectable therapies. The syringes will be used in a specialized injection pen for the delivery of Botox and represent the first tranche of a 1-million-unit order. This shipment underscores Sharps' ability to serve diverse therapeutic markets and meet the technical requirements of premium, differentiated injectable delivery platforms. 'These initial shipments mark a key operational milestone as Sharps officially transitions to a commercial-stage company,' stated Robert Hayes, Chief Executive Officer of Sharps Technology. 'For the first time, we are recognizing product revenue across multiple product lines and global markets. This achievement validates years of R&D, strategic planning, and manufacturing investment. All products are being manufactured and shipped from Sharps' facility in Hungary, which has undergone significant upgrades to support high-volume, high-precision production. The Company continues to build inventory and expand capacity to support current and future purchase commitments under long-term strategic agreements. Dehydration isn't just a summer problem - Here's why Oral Rehydration Solution is a year-round essential

Dehydration isn't just a summer problem - Here's why Oral Rehydration Solution is a year-round essential Dehydration is a major health concern that is often ignored and only paid attention to in conditions like diarrhoea, vomiting, or extreme heat exhaustion. Often underestimated, dehydration can quickly become life-threatening. For common understanding, dehydration occurs when the body loses more fluids than it takes in. This loss may happen due to illness (such as diarrhoea or vomiting), excessive sweating, or simply not drinking enough water. Common symptoms include dry mouth, fatigue, dizziness, and reduced urine output. It is also important to understand that dehydration is not confined to any particular season and needs to be addressed in a timely manner. Recognising the signs and symptoms of dehydration, and taking steps to prevent and treat it, is crucial for maintaining good health—needless to mention, with due advice from your medical practitioner. A simple solution to address this big problem of dehydration is Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS). It is important to know and take note that an ORS approved by the World Health Organization (WHO) has a balanced mix of salts and sugars, with an osmolarity of 245 mosmol/litre. A WHO-approved ORS will always have the osmolarity written on the pack label, and it is important to identify this. This combination optimises the absorption of fluid and electrolytes, which helps quickly restore and replenish the loss. Contrary to popular belief, high-sugar beverages can worsen dehydration rather than relieve it. These drinks can draw water out of the body, intensifying the feeling of thirst and leaving individuals even more dehydrated. That's why it's important to choose scientifically formulated solutions like Oral Rehydration Solution, which are designed to rehydrate effectively. Today, there's a lot of misleading communication in the market that can confuse consumers—many products are labelled with 'ORS' but don't meet the World Health Organisation's recommended formulation. This can lead people to choose products that don't actually provide the right balance of electrolytes and glucose needed to treat dehydration effectively. It's essential to educate consumers on identifying genuine, scientifically backed ORS solutions. Managing dehydration effectively means more than just drinking water—it's about consuming the right balance of fluid and electrolytes. A scientifically formulated Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) contains the ideal mix of glucose and electrolytes that help your body absorb water quickly and restore lost fluids and salts. Choosing the right Oral Rehydration Solution can make a real difference in how fast you recover from dehydration. FDC Electral is committed to combating dehydration by raising awareness about the vital role of Oral Rehydration Salts (ORS). The brand believes in the power of this simple, effective solution to manage and prevent dehydration, and is actively working along with the medical fraternity to educate people and patients at large on its importance and usage. Energy drinks sold as ORS substitutes in Tiruchy pharmacies

TIRUCHY: Pharmacies across Tiruchy are misleading customers by handing out energy and electrolyte drinks when asked for Oral Rehydration Salts (ORS), a recent TNIE inspection has found. Health officials and doctors warn this is dangerous, as these drinks don't meet World Health Organization (WHO) standards and can worsen dehydration during diarrhoea due to the presence of high sugar content. WHO-approved ORS packets are available free at government health centres and hospitals. "They are sold in pharmacies only in powder form never in bottles as prepared ORS must be consumed within 24 hours," a DPH statement said. Yet, when TNIE visited multiple medical stores in Tiruchy, several pharmacies handed over branded electrolyte tetra packs instead of ORS sachets. Though these tetra packs carry disclaimers like "not for medical use" or "not ORS," many mistake them for ORS. "People ask for particular brands, thinking they are right for dehydration and pick some fruit-flavoured packs. Selling these packs are profitable too, as its prices are nearly ten times the price of ORS powders," a pharmacist said. "Correct ORS has precise amounts of sodium, potassium, chloride, and glucose. These energy drinks lack that balance, and high sugar can worsen dehydration," warned Dr G Sathish Kumar, Professor of General Medicine at KAPV Government Medical College and MGMGH. Dr Sivaprasath P, Professor of Paediatrics, said, "No energy drink can replace WHO-approved ORS. Only standard ORS protects against severe dehydration. Commercial energy drinks are risky, especially for children."

Expert explains why you should prefer ORS packets to liquid rehydration drinks in tetra packs or bottles

Representative image CHENNAI: Many commercially produced ready-to-drink liquid rehydration drinks , marketed as 'liquid ORS' or 'energy drinks', are not substitutes for WHO-approved oral rehydration salt (ORS), Tamil Nadu director of public health Dr T S Selvavinayagam said. These products often lacked the correct balance of salts and sugar recommended by WHO and could worsen dehydration and diarrhoea, he added. ORS is a special liquid mixture of water, electrolytes including sodium and potassium, and carbohydrates usually in the form of sugar, given to prevent and treat dehydration. This is particularly important for conditions such as excessive sweating caused by heat exhaustion or stress, diarrhoea, vomiting and other ailments where the body loses significant fluids and salts. "Glucose helps the small intestine absorb sodium, and water follows the sodium. This rehydrates the body and replenishes lost electrolytes," Dr Selvavinayagam said. The WHO and Unicef recommend ORS as a simple, effective, and low-cost treatment that has saved millions of lives, especially in children suffering from diarrhoeal diseases. ORS, available as a powder, is mixed with clean water according to specific instructions to ensure the correct balance of ingredients. "Often, people pick up tetra packs or bottles when they are prescribed ORS. These solutions will not adequately rehydrate and replenish salts and cannot medically correct the dehydration. So, there is a risk of worsening dehydration," he said. ORS packets are available free of cost in all govt primary health centres and govt hospitals and for sale in pharmacies and private hospitals, he said. (For inquiries call 108)
