Big Tide Summit is back in Savannah
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — The annual Big Tide Summit is back in Savannah, and students were there to learn from the best in the field.
Students from all over the county are gathering today to learn from experts in various fields, as well as get careers advice for the next steps of their future.
Electric and inspiring is how attendees said this year's Big Tide Summit made them feel.
'Dream, the biggest I could dream. And if I shoot for the moon, then I might use some more stars,' third-year attendee Eden Truest Canady said.
Founder Robert Gould is an integral part of the operation, stating events like these are mandatory to give back to our future.
'The state of Georgia is in an economic typhoon right now of jobs and emergence in technology and in stem and in steam, and so if we don't just create the trades, but also we have to create the sustainability of a career,' Big Tide Summit Founder Robert Gould said.
Students went through pitch labs where some were given funding for their dreams and future aspirations as well as pitching to employers for part-time, full-time, and mentorship opportunities.
Some students even won scholarships and WSAVS own Tina Tyus Shaw served on the stage as a judge for many of the events.
'Some of the people that like and see how their daily life lives were in their career and they kind of guided us through how to get to certain points in our careers. So that was good,' Joey Truschelly, first year attendee, said.
This is the third annual year that this event has been held in Savannah, and event organizers told WSAV that they're excited to continue to inspire the youth for many more years to come.
