Jersey Mike's donates all Wednesday sales to WVU Medicine Children's
CLARKSBURG, (WBOY) — If you're looking to give back to give back to the community and get your stomach full all in one go, your local Jersey Mike's is the place to go on Wednesday. This year, March 26 is Jersey Mike's 15th annual Day of Giving where every dollar spent at Jersey Mike's is donated to a local charity of the franchise's choice. All four local Jersey Mike's locations in north central West Virginia chose to give its proceeds to WVU Medicine Children's (WVUMC). 12 News spoke with Clarksburg's Jersey Mike's franchise owner, Kristine Frame, on why the franchise owners chose WVUMC. 'It's really nice because the money stays in West Virginia and helps the children of West Virginia. I mean it's a great cause, you know, everyone likes to help out when they can,' said Frame. Jersey Mike's locations in north central West Virginia are in Clarksburg and Morgantown and are open until 9 p.m. Work progressing on new WVU Marching Band field If you aren't able to make it to a Jersey Mike's location on Wednesday, you can still donate to WVUMC throughout the month of March through online and in-person orders. WVU Medicine Children's plans new outpatient clinic; fundraiser underway
Jan. 28—MORGANTOWN — WVU Medicine Children's is planning a new outpatient clinic and a fundraising effort is now underway for the estimated $10 million project. The 15, 214-square-foot Children's Outpatient Clinic will be built on the hospital's 10th floor. Work is expected to begin early this year, with completion expected by year's end. The project will build out new clinical space for existing services, including medical weight management, neurology, neurosurgery, pulmonology, sleep disorders, plastic surgery, trauma, surgery and their associated multidisciplinary clinics and procedure spaces. "Since WVU Medicine Children's Hospital opened its doors, the need for pediatric care has continued to grow, " said Michael Grace, president and CEO of WVU Hospitals. "We as a health system are committed to continuing to grow as well to meet that need and to provide the world-class care that our children and families deserve." The 10th floor, which houses the Jeff and Vicky Hostetler Family Resource Center, was also shelled for future growth when the hospital opened in September 2022, WVUMC said. Over the past two years, leadership identified a need to consolidate outpatient services via a dedicated clinic space to streamline care and access for patients and their families. Officials expect to see continued growth of outpatient services once the new clinic opens. Several notable gifts have already bolstered the fundraising effort, WVUMC said, including a $500, 000 contribution from the Mountain Loggers Group (this gift is in addition the group's $212, 000 given to WVUMC's Generous Needs Fund reported in December). "We are proud to be able to help make a positive difference in the lives of kids and their families, " said Danny Sines, president of the Mountain Loggers Group. "It's a tradition for us to be able to support WVU Medicine Children's and we are so thankful for the logging community who helps make this possible." Amy L. Bush, chief administrative officer of WVU Medicine Children's, said, "The outpouring of generosity we've already received toward our outpatient clinic expansion has been remarkable. Our community is just as dedicated as we are to helping our children and expectant mothers. This clinic will be a significant step forward for care at WVU Medicine Children's and we look forward to being able to see more patients." WVU Medicine Children's supporters can contribute to the WVU Medicine Children's Building Expansion Fund (2W1926) online at /WVUMedicineChildrens. Also, the annual WVU Medicine Children's Day of giving is coming up on March 26 and donors can pledge funds towards the 10th floor project then.
